Dallas Sidekicks (2012–present)
The Dallas Sidekicks is an American professional indoor soccer team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex that competes in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). The team plays its home games in the Credit Union of Texas Event Center. They kicked off their 2012–13 Dallas Sidekicks season, inaugural season as a member of the Professional Arena Soccer League on November 3, 2012. The Sidekicks segued to the MASL for its 2014–15 Dallas Sidekicks season, inaugural season on October 25, 2014. The team took a leave of absence on September 19, 2017, for one season to re-organize. On July 24, 2018, it was announced that the Dallas Sidekicks would return for the 2018–2019 season. History The team was named after the original Dallas Sidekicks (1984–2004), Dallas Sidekicks that operated from 1984 to 2004. The Credit Union of Texas Event Center (formerly Allen Event Center) is an American 6,275 fixed-seat multi-purpose indoor arena located in Allen, Texas, a northern suburb of Dallas, Texas, Dallas. The arena opened in 2009 under the name Allen Event Center. Construction cost was $52.6 million ($63.5 million in 2020 dollars). The City of Allen sold the naming rights to the arena to the Credit Union of Texas in 2021 for a seven-year term at $325,000 per year. The center hosts the home games of the ECHL's Allen Americans and the relaunched Dallas Sidekicks (2012), Dallas Sidekicks of the Major Arena Soccer League. The Miss Texas pageant relocated to the center for 2012 and 2013. It was formerly the home of Champions Indoor Football's Texas Revolution (indoor football), Texas Revolution (also previously called the Allen Wranglers) until the team moved to Frisco, Texas, in 2017.
