Dainų Dainelė
Dainų dainelė () is a Lithuanian singing competition for children ages 3 to 19 established in 1974. The competition takes place every two years and is organized by the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art under the direction of the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science (prior to 1998, it was organized by the Ministry of Education and the Lithuanian National Radio and Television). It is a popular and well attended competition. By 2014, it was estimated that more than 200,000 children competed at Dainų dainelė. History The first competition was held in spring 1974. The idea of the competition was raised by Aldona Šimaitytė, an employee of the Lithuanian National Radio and Television, in 1972. The competition's name comes from a Lithuanian folk song that was popularized by Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. Yuri Sergeyevich Entin (; born 21 August 1935) is a Russian and Soviet poet, playwright and lyricist who wrote screenplays and songs for various children's films including '' The Bremen Town Musicians'' (1969) and two sequels (with Vasily Livanov) and '' Blue Puppy'' (1976), among others. The ''Visuotinė lietuvių enciklopedija'' or VLE () is a 25-volume universal Lithuanian-language encyclopedia published by the Science and Encyclopaedia Publishing Institute from 2001 to 2014. Evelina Sašenko-Statulevičienė (; ; born 26 July 1987) is a Lithuanian jazz singer of Polish-Ukrainian descent who was born and lives in Lithuania. Biography Sašenko was born in Rūdiškės into a Polish-Ukrainian family from the Vilnius Region. She studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Sašenko started her music career as a child. Donatas Montvydas (born 22 October 1987), also known by his stage name Donny Montell, is a Lithuanian singer-songwriter who represented Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
