Dagsnäs Castle
Dagsnäs Castle is a castle in Sweden, located south of Skara at Lake Hornborga. Dagsnäs has very old origins and belonged to the Gumsehuvud family in the 15th century. It was then passed down through the Thott, Soop, Kafle and Uggla families before it was purchased in 1762 by the original antiquarian and patron Per Tham , in whose family it remained until 1864. During Per Tham's time the castle became a cultural center in Västergötland. In 1772–82, the current main building was built in stone. Skara
Skara is a locality and the seat of Skara Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden with 18,580 inhabitants in 2013. Despite its small size, it is one of the oldest cities in Sweden, and has a long educational and ecclesiastical history. Lake Hornborga () is a lake in Västergötland in Sweden, famous for its many birds, in particular the many cranes that stay here temporarily during their annual migrations. Saleby Runestone
The Saleby Runestone, designated as Vg 67 in the Rundata catalog, was originally located in Saleby, Västra Götaland County, Sweden, which is in the historic province of Västergötland, and is one of the few runestones that is raised in memory of a woman. Description The runic inscription and is classified as being in runestone style RAK. This is the classification for inscriptions where the runic bands do not have any serpent or beast heads at the ends, and is considered to be the oldest style. The Saleby Runestone was discovered in 1794 within the walls of the church of Saleby and then moved to its current location near Dagsnäs Castle.
