Dafydd Jones (other)
Dafydd Aled Rees Jones (born 24 June 1979) is a Welsh former rugby union player who played as a flanker for the Scarlets regional side and the Wales national team. First capped in 2002, he made 42 appearances in a seven-year international career. He also played over 200 times for Llanelli, including appearances for both Llanelli RFC and the Scarlets. Career Jones was born in Aberystwyth and attended Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron. A product of Llanelli RFC's youth system, he made his debut for the club in February 1997, coming on as a replacement in a game against Leeds Tykes. He made only a few appearances over the next two seasons before making his breakthrough as a regular during the 1999–2000 season, playing 25 times for Llandovery RFC and eight times for Llanelli. That was reversed the following season, as he played 20 times for Llanelli and twice for Llandovery, before committing exclusively to Llanelli in 2001–02, playing 33 times. Aberystwyth
Aberystwyth (; ) is a University town, university and seaside town and a community (Wales), community in Ceredigion, Wales. It is the largest town in Ceredigion and from Aberaeron, the county's other administrative centre. In 2021, the population of the town was 14,640. Located in the Historic counties of Wales, historic county of Cardiganshire, means "the mouth of the River Ystwyth, Ystwyth". It has been a major educational location in Wales since the establishment of University College Wales, now Aberystwyth University, in 1872. Fiji National Rugby Union Team
The Fiji national rugby union team represents Fiji in men's international rugby union. Fiji competed in the Pacific Tri-Nations and now competes in its successor tournament Pacific Nations Cup. Fiji also regularly plays test matches during the June and November test windows. They have beaten the major rugby playing sides of Wales, Scotland, Australia, France, Italy, Argentina and England. The only major sides Fiji are yet to beat are New Zealand, South Africa and Ireland. The "Flying Fijians" as they are nicknamed compete every four years at the Rugby World Cup. Their best performances were the 1987, 2007 and 2023 tournaments when they defeated Argentina, Wales and Australia respectively to reach the quarterfinals. Edinburgh Rugby
Edinburgh Rugby (formerly Edinburgh Reivers, Edinburgh Gunners) is one of the two professional rugby union teams from Scotland. The club competes in the United Rugby Championship, along with the Glasgow Warriors, its oldest rival. Edinburgh plays the majority of its home games at Edinburgh Rugby Stadium. The original Edinburgh District (rugby union), Edinburgh District team played the first ever inter-district match against Glasgow District (rugby union), Glasgow District in 1872, winning the match 3–0. 2005 British & Irish Lions Tour To New Zealand
In 2005, the British & Irish Lions rugby union team toured New Zealand for the first time since 1993, playing seven matches against first and second division teams from the National Provincial Championship, one match against the New Zealand Maori team, and three test matches against New Zealand (the All Blacks). The Lions lost the test series 3–0, the first time in 22 years that they lost every test match on tour. The team was managed by former England and Lions player Bill Beaumont, coached by former England coach Sir Clive Woodward, and originally captained by Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll. O'Driscoll suffered a controversial tour-ending injury two minutes into the first test, and Wales captain Gareth Thomas took over as captain for the final four games of the tour. The 2005 Six Nations Championship was the sixth Six Nations Championship played since the competition expanded in 2000 to include Italy national rugby union team, Italy. Including the Home Nations and Five Nations Championships, this was the 111th season of the tournament. The Romania national rugby union team, nicknamed Stejarii (''The Oaks''), has long been considered one of the stronger European teams outside the Six Nations Championship, Six Nations. 2004 Six Nations Championship
The 2004 Six Nations Championship was the fifth series of the rugby union Six Nations Championship to be held since the competition expanded in 2000 to include Italy national rugby union team, Italy. Overall, this was the 110th series of the international championship. Match winners received two points, with one for a draw and none for a loss. The first tiebreaker was points difference. France won the competition, also winning the Grand Slam. Ireland won the Triple Crown (rugby union), Triple Crown, sweeping their matches against Wales, England and Scotland.
