Daffodil International University
Daffodil International University or (DIU) () is a private research university located in Daffodil Smart City, Birulia, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established on 24 January 2002 under the Private University Act of 1992. DIU is the largest private university in Bangladesh by its campus size. DIU is the first university in Bangladesh to have signed the UN's Commitment to Sustainable Practices of Higher Education Institutions. According to the SCOPUS indexed research publications in 2022, Daffodil International University has been positioned 2nd among all universities and 1st among all private universities in Bangladesh. University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (; abbreviated as UCG) is the apex body responsible for overseeing higher education in Bangladesh, ensuring quality standards, and advising on university development. The Independent (Bangladesh)
''The Independent'' was an English-language daily newspaper published in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was owned by Beximco Group of Bangladesh. The last executive editor of the newspaper was Shamim Abdullah Zahedy. History On 26 March 1995, Beximco Group launched The Independent. In October 2010, the Independent newspaper was relaunched. The newspaper officially shut down on 30 January 2022. Earlier in April 2020, it ceased printed publication due to COVID-19 pandemic. On 31 January 2022, The Independent was closed down. Description The ''Daily Sun'' is an English-language daily newspaper published in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Also it publishes Bengali-language daily news. It was founded in 2010. The main paper has 28 pages including 4 pages on business and 8 pages on sports which is called "Winner". When the paper criticised the shipping minister's role in granting licences and violation of traffic rules by drivers, transport workers raided and looted delivery vehicles.
