DR-1
DR-1 is a dual carriageway highway that forms part of the five designated national highways of the Dominican Republic. DR-1 provides a fast connection between Santo Domingo, the capital, on the southern coast, and the second city Santiago and the rest of the northerly Cibao region, one of the country's main regions. DR-1's southern terminus is the ''Expreso John F Kennedy'' in the City of Santo Domingo. The highway emerges from Greater Santo Domingo as Autopista Juan Pablo Duarte, and after reaching its midpoint, Santiago, it changes name to Autopista Joaquín Balaguer. DR-1 is the oldest and one of the most efficient highways in the nation. Construction of the initial road from Santo Domingo to Santiago began in 1917 and was completed in 1922. Downtown Santo Domingo
Central Santo Domingo or better known as Polígono Central ( en, Central Polygon) is a term used to group several neighborhoods located in central Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, Dominican Republic defined as the area delineated by ''John F Kennedy'' Avenue (also known as DR-1) on the north, on the west by ''Winston Churchill'' avenue, on the east by ''Maximo Gomez'' avenue, and on the south by ''27 de Febrero'' avenue (also known as DR-3). The centric area forms the core of the city of Santo Domingo which includes the neighborhoods of Naco, Piantini, Paraíso, and Yolanda Morales. This central polygon, as the name implies, serves as the main economic and business center of the city. DR-13
DR-13 is a highway in the Dominican Republic. It connects Santo Domingo to the province of Monte Plata and Monseñor Nouel. Its two lanes run mostly through metropolitan Santo Domingo and it connects the Distrito Nacional with Santo Domingo Norte and Villa Mella. DR-13 is the only highway in Santo Domingo that crosses Greater Santo Domingo in its entirety. It runs from the coast up to Villa Mella where the highway is then referred to as Avenida Maximo Gomez while in SDN it is known as Avenida Hermanas Mirabal. The Santo Domingo Metro ( es, Metro de Santo Domingo) is a rapid transit system in Greater Santo Domingo. Serving the capital of the Dominican Republic, it is the most extensive metro system in the insular Caribbean and Central American region by length and number of stations. It began operation in 2004. The Metro is a major part of the "National Master Plan" to improve transportation in Greater Santo Domingo and the rest of the nation. Bonao
Bonao is a city in the Cibao region of Dominican Republic. It is the capital of the Monseñor Nouel province. The city is located in the center of the country, to the northwest of the national capital Santo Domingo. The city is known as "Villa de las Hortensias" - the town of hydrangeas. The Hortensia is the local flower of Bonao. History Upon the arrival of the Spaniards, the territory belonged to the Taino chiefdom of Maguá. In 1495, Bartolomé Colón, during an exploration journey through the island, ordered the construction of a fortress to combat the resistance of the natives commanded by a chief with the name of Bonao. The first fort built on the site was called Bonao Abajo, which was later occupied by Francisco Roldán, a Spanish soldier who rebelled against the colonial authorities in the island. Constanza, Dominican Republic
Constanza is a town and municipality in La Vega Province, Dominican Republic. Located in the Cordillera Central region, Constanza is known for having the coldest temperature for a settlement on the island of Hispaniola, as well as the entire Caribbean. It is also the Dominican Republic's highest settlement; however, it is not the highest settlement on Hispaniola, as Kenscoff in Haiti is slightly higher in elevation, at 1,504 m (4836 ft).
