Doe (band)
Doe (''/dəʊ/'', previously stylised as DOE) were a British indie rock band from London, England, consisting of Nicola Leel (guitar, vocals), Jake Popyura (drums, vocals) and Dean Smithers (guitar). The band released two studio albums and toured extensively in the UK, Europe and USA. History Doe started in early 2013 after Nicola Leel and Jake Popyura, who had met through a classified ad the previous year, cemented the initial lineup with the addition of guitarist Alessandro 'Alex' Sorenti. Their formation was quickly followed by a string of UK shows, three EP releases (''S/t'', ''Summer 2013'' and ''Late Bloomer'') and a European tour with their friends The Exhausts. Matthew Sykes joined on guitar after Sorenti's departure and the band released ''Sooner'', an EP coupled with a lyric/photo zine. The compilation LP ''First Four'' was released through Specialist Subject Records in 2014, with a US cassette version following a year later via Old Flame Records. 2015 saw the release ...

Diffractive Optical Element
Diffraction is the deviation of waves from straight-line propagation without any change in their energy due to an obstacle or through an aperture. The diffracting object or aperture effectively becomes a secondary source of the propagating wave. Diffraction is the same physical effect as interference, but interference is typically applied to superposition of a few waves and the term diffraction is used when many waves are superposed. Italian scientist Francesco Maria Grimaldi coined the word ''diffraction'' and was the first to record accurate observations of the phenomenon in 1660. In classical physics, the diffraction phenomenon is described by the Huygens–Fresnel principle that treats each point in a propagating wavefront as a collection of individual spherical wavelets. The characteristic pattern is most pronounced when a wave from a coherent source (such as a laser) encounters a slit/aperture that is comparable in size to its wavelength, as shown in the inserted image. ...

Duke Of Edinburgh
Duke of Edinburgh, named after the capital city of Scotland, Edinburgh, is a substantive title that has been created four times since 1726 for members of the British royal family. It does not include any territorial landholdings and does not produce any revenue for the title-holder. The current holder, Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, was created duke in 2023 on his 59th birthday by his eldest brother, King Charles III. The dukedom had previously been granted to their father, then Philip Mountbatten, on the day of his marriage to then-Princess Elizabeth, the future Queen Elizabeth II. Upon Philip's death, the title was inherited by Charles and held by him until Elizabeth died and Charles became king, at which time the title reverted to the Crown. 1726 creation The title was first created in the Peerage of Great Britain on 26 July 1726 by King George I of Great Britain, George I, who bestowed it on his grandson Frederick, Prince of Wales, Prince Frederick, who s ...

Doe River
The Doe River is a tributary of the Watauga River in northeast Tennessee in the United States. The river forms in Carter County near the North Carolina line, just south of Roan Mountain State Park, and flows to Elizabethton. Hydrography The Doe River flows from the northern slopes of Roan Mountain, through Roan Mountain State Park and the center of Roan Mountain, Tennessee, then continues to flow west and is paralleled by U.S. Route 19E. The stream then flows to the east of Fork Mountain; while the Little Doe River flows by Fork Mountain to the west. Hampton and Valley Forge Pushing through a mountain gap just north of Hampton, Tennessee, the volume of the Doe River is increased by the waters flowing from McCathern Spring. Below the confluence of both the Doe River and the Little Doe River at Hampton, the Doe River travels roughly in a northern direction through the Valley Forge community, and is rejoined by U.S. Route 19E outside of Elizabethton. Elizabethton Eliz ...

Design Of Experiments
The design of experiments (DOE), also known as experiment design or experimental design, is the design of any task that aims to describe and explain the variation of information under conditions that are hypothesized to reflect the variation. The term is generally associated with experiments in which the design introduces conditions that directly affect the variation, but may also refer to the design of quasi-experiments, in which natural conditions that influence the variation are selected for observation. In its simplest form, an experiment aims at predicting the outcome by introducing a change of the preconditions, which is represented by one or more independent variables, also referred to as "input variables" or "predictor variables." The change in one or more independent variables is generally hypothesized to result in a change in one or more dependent variables, also referred to as "output variables" or "response variables." The experimental design may also identify ...

Distributed Objects Everywhere
Distributed Objects Everywhere (DOE) was a long-running Sun Microsystems project to build a distributed computing environment based on the CORBA system in the 'back end' and OpenStep as the user interface. First started in 1990 and announced soon thereafter, it remained vaporware for many years before it was finally released as NEO in 1995. It was sold for only a short period before being dropped (along with OpenStep) in 1996. In its place is what is today known as Enterprise JavaBeans. Background In the early 1990s the 'next big thing' in computing was to use desktop microcomputers to display and edit data being provided by mainframes and minicomputers. Although a number of methods for this sort of access already existed, the division of labor was not at all even. For instance, SQL required the workstation to download huge data sets and then process them locally, whereas use of terminal emulators left all of the work to the server and provided no GUI. It seemed that the proper ...

Multifocal Diffractive Lens
A multifocal diffractive lens is a diffractive optical element (DOE) that allows a single incident Laser beam, beam to be focus (optics), focused simultaneously at several positions along the Wave propagation, propagation Optical axis, axis. Principle of operation An incident laser beam is deflected by grooved Diffraction grating, diffraction pattern into axial diffraction orders along its optical axis. The foci appear around the Fraunhofer diffraction, far field position. With an additional focusing lens, foci from multifocal lens will appear at certain distances from the focal point of the lens. Theory The multifocal spots location is a function of refractive focal length ''f''Refractive and predetermined diffractive focal length ''f''Diffractive The focal spot at the "zero" order refers to the refractive focal length of the lens being used. The distance between the focal spots can be described by the equation :\frac = \frac +\frac,\ \mathrm\ m = \pm 1, \pm 2, \pm 3. ...
