DK–MSZP–Dialogue Alliance
The DK–MSZP–Dialogue Alliance (, ), officially DK, MSZP, Dialogue Social Democratic–Green Alliance () was a short-lived Hungarian centre-left political alliance consisting of the Democratic Coalition, the Hungarian Socialist Party and the Dialogue – The Greens' Party in 2024, in response to the centre-right political power of Péter Magyar strengthening. The alliance was dissolved later that year. History Péter Magyar announced his intention to found a party on 15 March 2024. A few days later, the not-yet-formed political formation was polled at 15%, so the former opposition coalition's left-wing members, the Democratic Coalition, the Hungarian Socialist Party, and the Dialogue decided to form a long-term political alliance, which was announced by Klára Dobrev, Ágnes Kunhalmi and Gergely Karácsony at the press conference on 28 March 2024. Dialogue – The Greens' Party (, , prior to 2023 known as Dialogue for Hungary, , ), in short Párbeszéd or Párbeszéd – Zöldek, is a green political party in Hungary that was formed in February 2013 by eight MPs who left the Politics Can Be Different (LMP) party. Since its foundation, the party has never independently participated in any election. History The Dialogue for Hungary party had formed a coalition with the Together 2014 party; together, they won four seats in the national assembly and one seat in the European Parliament. Dialogue for Hungary took one seat from the four in the Hungarian parliament and had one representative in Brussels. Unity (Hungary)
Unity (), also called Left Unity () was the informal name of a short-lived centre-left political alliance in Hungary of five political party, political parties formed for contesting the 2014 Hungarian parliamentary election. The parties involved were the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP), Together 2014 (E14), Democratic Coalition (Hungary), Democratic Coalition (DK), Dialogue for Hungary (PM) and Hungarian Liberal Party (MLP). The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) is the Political groups of the European Parliament, political group in the European Parliament of the Party of European Socialists (PES). The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats was officially founded as a Socialist Group on 29 June 1953, which makes it the second oldest political group in the European Parliament after the European People's Party Group (EPP Group). 2024 Budapest Mayoral Election
The 2024 Budapest mayoral election was held on 9 June 2024 to elect the mayor of Budapest (''főpolgármester''). However, the elected mayor will only take office in October. On the same day, local elections were held throughout Hungary, including the districts of Budapest which will determine the composition of the General Assembly. The election is run using a first-past-the-post voting system. The winner of the election will serve for a term of five years. As the two top-placed candidates, Dávid Vitézy and Gergely Karácsony were only separated by 324 votes, a partial recount took place, due to the abnormally large numbers of invalid ballots. On 12 June, Vitézy filed for appeal, and the National Electoral Office decided on recounting all of the invalid votes across the city on 14 June. 2024 Budapest Assembly Election
The 2024 Budapest Assembly election was held on 9 June 2024, concurrent with other 2024 Hungarian local elections, local elections in Hungary. 2026 Hungarian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections are expected to be held in Hungary in April 2026. Background Amendment of the electoral law On 17 December 2024, the National Assembly voted changes about the 106 constituencies. As a result, the number of Budapest electoral districts decreased from 18 to 16, while in Pest County was increased by the same difference number. Gergely Szilveszter Karácsony (; born 11 June 1975) is a Hungarian politician, sociologist, political scientist, activist and current Mayor of Budapest. He previously served as member of the National Assembly (MP) from 2010 to 2014 and Mayor of Zugló from 2014 to 2019. Profession Karácsony worked for the ''Medián'' market and public opinion research company as a research manager. He became Director of Research in 2007. Between 2002 and 2008 he was a political advisor at the Prime Minister's Office. Klára Dobrev (born Klara Petrova Dobreva, ; on 2 February 1972) is a Hungarian left-wing politician who served as Vice-President of the European Parliament between July 2019 and January 2022. She is currently the leader of the Democratic Coalition. Early life and education Dobrev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria to a Hungarian mother, Piroska Apró, and a Bulgarian father, Petar Dobrev.
