DJK Würzburg
Deutsche Jugendkraft Würzburg, commonly known as DJK Würzburg, is a German sports club. It is most known for its basketball section, which in the past had a professional team. Its best known former player is Dirk Nowitzki. Currently, the sports club contains around 3,000 amateur players. History The DJK Sport Association was founded on September 16, 1920 in Würzburg. Due to the geographic location of its home office, the DJK soon founded a local club in Würzburg. However, the different athletic departments found themselves divided among various Catholic clubs. During the Third Reich, all Nazi Germany DJK affiliates were banned by the government. After World War II, the DJK consolidated all of its local departments into DJK Würzburg. Denis Wucherer (born 7 May 1973 in Mainz) is a German professional basketball coach and former player. He is 1.96 m (6 ft 5 in) tall and played shooting guard. Professional career As player Wucherer has played professional basketball in Germany (TV Langen, Bayer Giants Leverkusen, DJK Würzburg and Frankfurt Skyliners), Italy ( Sony Milano, Varese Roosters, Benetton Treviso) and Belgium (Telindus BC Oostende). Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. Lamont Mack (born March 16, 1987) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Dinamo Tbilisi. College career At Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas, he was a Junior College all-American and ranked as the 21st best player in junior college. Mack played for the Charlotte 49ers while studying a criminal justice major from 2007 to 2009. Robert Garrett (born 18 March 1977) is a former German professional basketball player from Ochsenfurt, Bavaria. From 1996 to 2002, Garrett played with DJK Würzburg, where he was a teammate of Dirk Nowitzki until Nowitzki’s 1998 departure to the NBA. Nikos "Nick" Katsikis (; born March 12, 1967) is a former Greek–American professional basketball player. His twin brother Tom Katsikis is also a former professional basketball player. Olumide Oyedeji (born 11 May 1981) is a Nigerian former professional basketball center. He is now President oHoops N' Readbasketball club.
