D8 (magazine)
''d8'' was a magazine that was published out of Philadelphia and New York City in 1995-1996 and targeted fans of role-playing games. The name referred to an eight-sided dice#Application in role-playing games, polyhedral die common in such games. Unlike other gaming magazines, ''d8''’s focus was not on gaming systems and rules, but rather the art of role playing and the cultural, pop-cultural, and subcultural interests of the people who played games. ''d8'' styled itself “the magazine of role-playing culture”. This editorial mission was conceived of by Founder and Creative Director David DeCheser. The magazine was financed by Frank Slattery IV, an avid gamer who wanted to be involved in the field. Contributors Edited by Holly Black and Joe Cirillo, the magazine had a host of eclectic and regular contributors that included author Steve Berman, GWAR member Techno Destructo, Hunter Jackson, illustrators Joseph Hasenauer and Theo Black, ''Yamara'' creators Barbara Manui and Chr ...

Spyker D8
The Spyker D8 Peking-to-Paris is a concept executive car, mid-size luxury crossover (automobile), crossover SUV produced by the Netherlands, Dutch car manufacturer Spyker Cars. The car was designed by Michiel van den Brink and introduced at the Geneva Motor Show#2006, 2006 Geneva Motor Show as the D12. With a change in proposed engine to a V8, the Peking-to-Paris was renamed D8. The name Peking-to-Paris refers to the Peking to Paris endurance rally held in 1907 from Peking (now called Beijing) in China to Paris in France, in which an almost standard Spyker car participated, driven by Frenchman Ch. Goddard. The Spyker car came in second in the rally after a three-month drive. Although the D8 is a crossover (automobile), crossover SUV, it shares many design features found on Spyker's other sports car, sports cars such as the Spyker C8, C8. Among these features are the D8's aluminum "aeroblade" wheels and one piece aluminum rear view mirrors. Also notable is that the back seat vehic ...

Dihedral Group
In mathematics, a dihedral group is the group (mathematics), group of symmetry, symmetries of a regular polygon, which includes rotational symmetry, rotations and reflection symmetry, reflections. Dihedral groups are among the simplest examples of finite groups, and they play an important role in group theory, geometry, and chemistry. The notation for the dihedral group differs in geometry and abstract algebra. In geometry, or refers to the symmetries of the n-gon, -gon, a group of order . In abstract algebra, refers to this same dihedral group. This article uses the geometric convention, . Definition The word "dihedral" comes from "di-" and "-hedron". The latter comes from the Greek word hédra, which means "face of a geometrical solid". Overall it thus refers to the two faces of a polygon. Elements A regular polygon with n sides has 2n different symmetries: n rotational symmetry, rotational symmetries and n reflection symmetry, reflection symmetries. Usually, we take n ...

D Electron Count
The d electron count or number of d electrons is a chemistry formalism used to describe the electron configuration of the valence electrons of a transition metal center in a coordination complex. The d electron count is an effective way to understand the geometry and reactivity of transition metal complexes. The formalism has been incorporated into the two major models used to describe coordination complexes; crystal field theory and ligand field theory, which is a more advanced version based on molecular orbital theory. However the d electron count of an atom in a complex is often different from the d electron count of a free atom or a free ion of the same element. Electron configurations of transition metal atoms For free atoms, electron configurations have been determined by atomic spectroscopy. Lists of atomic energy levels and their electron configurations have been published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for both neutral and ionized atoms. ...

Dublin 8
Dublin 8, also rendered as D8 and D08, is a postal district in Dublin. Dublin 8 is one of only two postal districts to span the River Liffey. While the majority of the district's built up areas are on the southside, it also includes northside areas such as the vast Phoenix Park. A 2018 article in The Irish Times noted that, while the area was historically known for the manufacture of silk and wool, Dublin 8's "streets, alleys and quaysides are owreplete with hipster cafes, cocktail bars and family-friendly restaurants". Area profile Dublin 8 was named one of the "coolest neighbourhoods" in the world by Time Out in 2021. Forecasting by Knight Frank, which put the area on a so-called global hot list, has indicated the district could face property price growth of up to 20% in the coming years. However, further research has shown that rapid, large-scale transformation and gentrification in the postal code has left some of its residents feeling powerless and voiceless. On Heytesb ...

Digital8
Digital8 (or D8) is a consumer digital recording videocassette for camcorders developed by Sony, and introduced in 1999. The Digital8 format is a combination of the earlier analog Hi8 tape transport with the digital DV codec. Digital8 equipment uses the same videocassettes as analog recording Hi8 equipment, but the signal is encoded ''digitally'' using the industry-standard DV codec, which means it has identical digital audio and digital video specifications compared with DV. To facilitate digital recording on existing Hi8 video cassettes the helical scan video head drum spins 2.5× faster. For both NTSC and PAL Digital8 equipment, a standard-length 120-minute NTSC/90-minute PAL Hi8 magnetic tape cassette will store 60 minutes of Digital8 video (Standard Play) or 90 minutes (Long Play). There are 90-minute versions marketed specifically for Digital8, but these use thinner tape than the 60-minute ones. LP is model specific, such as the TRV-30, TRV-40, and others. Digital8 re ...

Data8
The 8 mm backup format is a discontinued magnetic tape data storage format used in computer systems, pioneered by Exabyte Corporation. It is also known as Data8, often abbreviated to D8 and is written as D-Eight on some Sony branded media. Such systems can back up up to 60 GB of data depending on configuration. The cassettes have the same dimensions and construction as the cassettes used in 8 mm video format recorders and camcorders. Until the advent of Advanced Intelligent Tape, AIT, Exabyte was the sole vendor of 8 mm format tape drives. The company was formed with the aim of taking the 8 mm video format and making it suitable for data storage. They did so by building a reliable mechanism and data format that used the common 8 mm helical scan videotape technology that was available then. Exabyte's first 8 mm tape drive was made available in 1987. This was followed up with their Mammoth tape drive in 1996, and the Mammoth-2 (M2) in 1999. Exaby ...
