Christ the King is a title of Jesus in Christianity referring to the idea of the Kingdom of God where the Christ is described as seated at the right hand of God. Many Christian denominations consider the kingly office of Christ to be one of the threefold offices: Christ is a prophet, priest, and king. Cristo Rei Beach ( pt, Praia de Cristo Rei, tet, Tasi-ibun Cristo Rei) is a public beach facing the Bay of Dili in the '' suco'' of , East Timor. Etymology The beach takes its name from the colossal '' Cristo Rei of Dili'' statue immediately to its north. Geography Cristo Rei Beach is composed of clean white sand and is about long. It is located at the north eastern end of the Bay of Dili, about from the centre of Dili, capital city of East Timor. The ''Cristo Rei of Dili'' (Christ the King of Dili) statue ( pt, Estátua do Cristo Rei de Díli, tet, Estátua Cristo Rei Dili) is a colossal statue of Jesus Christ situated atop a globe at Cape Fatucama in Dili, East Timor. It is one of East Timor's main tourist attractions. The statue was designed, and its construction supervised, by Mochamad Syailillah, who is better known as "Bolil". It was officially unveiled by President Suharto of Indonesia in 1996 as a gift from the Indonesian Government to the people of Timor Timur, the then Indonesian province. Location The statue, and the globe on which it rests, are mounted on the peak of Cape Fatucama at the end of the Fatucama peninsula. The Christ the King statue ( pt, Cristo Rei) also known as the Sacred Heart statue, is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Garajau, Madeira. History It is here that non catholic Christians were thrown from the cliffs as only Catholics were allowed to be buried on the island until 1770 when the British Cemetery of Funchal was established for non catholic Christians. The Jewish Cemetery of Funchal was established in 1851. The statue was built in remembrance of the function of the area's history. The statue was built in 1927 and consecrated on October 30, 1927. The Sanctuary of Christ the King ( pt, Santuário de Cristo Rei) is a Catholic monument and shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ overlooking the city of Lisbon situated in Almada, in Portugal. It was inspired by the '' Christ the Redeemer'' statue of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, after the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon visited that monument. The project was inaugurated on 17 May 1959.
