Crispin Gardiner
Crispin William Gardiner (born 18 October 1942 in Hastings New Zealand) is a New Zealand physicist, who has worked in the fields of Quantum Optics, Ultracold Atoms and Stochastic Processes. He has written about 120 journal articles and several books in the fields of quantum optics, stochastic processes and ultracold atoms Education Crispin Gardiner completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Auckland (B. Sc. 1964, M. Sc. 1965). He was awarded a research scholarship by the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 in 1965, under which received his D Phil in 1968 from the Oxford University for research in elementary particle physics. Career Following his D Phil, Gardiner completed postdoctoral research in the group of George Sudarshan at the Syracuse University. Hastings (; mi, Heretaunga) is an inland city of New Zealand and is one of the two major urban areas in Hawke's Bay, on the east coast of the North Island. The population of Hastings (including Flaxmere) is (as of with a further people in Havelock North and in Clive. Hastings is about 18 kilometres inland of the coastal city of Napier. These two neighbouring cities are often called "The Bay Cities" or "The Twin Cities". The city is the administrative centre of the Hastings District. Since the merger of the surrounding and satellite settlements, Hastings has grown to become one of the largest urban areas in Hawke's Bay. Hastings District is a food production region. The fertile Heretaunga Plains surrounding the city produce stone fruits, pome fruit, kiwifruit and vegetables, and the area is one of New Zealand's major red wine producers.
