2023 Prince Edward Island General Election
The 67th Prince Edward Island general election is tentatively scheduled for 2 October 2023, as a result of the provincial fixed election-date legislation calling for a general election to be held prior to the first Monday of October in the fourth calendar year subsequent to the previous general election. The election may be held before the scheduled date if the Legislature is dissolved earlier by the province's lieutenant governor at the recommendation of the Premier of Prince Edward Island for a snap election. Heath MacDonald (born 9 May 1966) is a Canadian politician, who is the Member of Parliament for Malpeque. He was previously elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in the 2015 provincial election, representing the electoral district of Cornwall-Meadowbank as a member of the Liberal Party until he resigned on 18 August 2021 in order to run in the 2021 Canadian federal election. On 20 May 2015, MacDonald was appointed to the Executive Council of Prince Edward Island as Minister of Economic Development and Tourism. The 2007 Prince Edward Island general election was held on May 28, 2007. It elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the province of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The incumbent Progressive Conservative government was defeated by the Liberal opposition after holding power for eleven years. The newly formed Green Party captured 3.04% of the vote or 4.44% in ridings they contested, beating out the New Democratic Party for third place. The Progressive Conservative Party of Prince Edward Island is one of three major political parties on Prince Edward Island. The party and its rival, the Liberals, have alternated in power since responsible government was granted in 1851. 2019 Prince Edward Island General Election
The 2019 Prince Edward Island general election was held to elect the members of the 66th General Assembly of Prince Edward Island. The vote in 26 of the 27 districts was held on 23 April 2019, while the vote for the member from Charlottetown-Hillsborough Park was deferred to 15 July due to the death of the Green Party's candidate. However, Charlottetown-Hillsborough Park still voted in a referendum on electoral reform. Natalie Jameson won the deferred election in the riding. The Progressive Conservatives under new leader Dennis King won thirteen seats (including deferred seat) to form a minority government. Ronald William "Ronnie" MacKinley (born August 24, 1947) is a Prince Edward Island Liberal politician, and former member of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island. Early life Born in Charlottetown, MacKinley is the son of John McKinley and Mildred Sellar. He was raised on the family farm in the rural community of North River which was amalgamated into the town of Cornwall in 1996. Before running for office, MacKinley worked as a farmer in North River. Apart from owning and operating his farm, he co-owns MacKinley Brothers beef farm with his mother and his son. He is married to Anne Clarkin, and has three children, and two grandchildren. 2011 Prince Edward Island General Election
The 2011 Prince Edward Island general election was held on October 3, 2011. The Liberal government of Premier Robert Ghiz was elected to a second majority government, winning one seat less than they did in 2007. Ghiz himself considered 18 seats to be a marker for a strong majority. He won 22. Health care was an important issue during the election, especially in rural areas. The Progressive Conservatives retained their position as Official Opposition, winning five seats. Olive Crane used the issue of the Provincial Nominee Program during the election, as well as issues surrounding immigration and investments that came under investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Federal Minister Jason Kenney during the election.
