Corey Brown (footballer)
Corey Brown (born 7 January 1994) is an Australian soccer player who plays as a left back for Brisbane Roar in the A-League. He is the son of Rod Brown, who scored for Brisbane Strikers in the 1997 NSL Grand Final and held the record for most NSL goals scored (137 goals) playing throughout the 1980s and 1990s with Marconi, APIA-Leichhardt, Newcastle Breakers and Brisbane Strikers. Club career Brown attended a Brisbane all boys school, from grades 5 through to 10; Marist College Ashgrove. In 2009, Brown was awarded a scholarship with the Queensland Academy of Sport at the age of 15. Whilst he was at and played for the QAS, he played on loan for Brisbane City but did not make a senior appearance. In 2010, he was offered a scholarship with the AIS, which he accepted. He made numerous appearances for them in the National Youth League. National Youth League (Australia)
A-League Youth, formerly known as the National Youth League and Y-League, is an Australian national soccer youth developmental and under-21s league, founded by Football Federation Australia and now run by the Australian Professional Leagues. The current league was established as a successor to the previous competition of the National Youth League (1984–2004) and commenced in August 2008. The league runs in conjunction with the A-League Men as a developmental or reserve league. The league, as well as the A-League Men and A-League Women are administered by the Australian Professional Leagues. In 2020 it was contested by ten teams, all of which competed in the A-League. From the 2020–21 season, the league was to expand to eleven teams with the introduction of Western United, however the season was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. The 2013–14 Brisbane Roar season was Roar's ninth season in the A-League. Having arguably fallen from their mantle of being the best team in the country, the Roar were striving to get back to title winning ways by any means necessary. The failure to qualify for the AFC Champions League was seen as an advantage, allowing the club to focus on domestic competition without the distraction of foreign competition. 2012–13 Brisbane Roar FC Season
The 2012–13 Brisbane Roar season was their eighth season in the A-League. As runner up in 2011–12, Brisbane were looking to continue their run of good form in the League, aiming to win their second Premiership. The Roar were also looking to replicate their Championship success which saw them become the first A-League team to win back-to-back Championships. To replicate their 2011–12 success, they would have to make history by making it to the Grand Final, as no team has ever qualified for three consecutive Grand Finals. 2011–12 Brisbane Roar FC Season
The 2011–12 season is Brisbane Roar's seventh season in the A-League. Brisbane successfully defended their Championship by defeating Perth Glory 2–1 in front of 50,344, but relinquished the Premiership to Central Coast Mariners, who ended the regular season 2 points ahead of the Roar, with the result going to down to the last day of the regular season. They will compete in the 2012 Asian Champions League, for finishing the regular season first. On 2 August 2011, the club confirmed they would be supplied with kits and training gear by German multinational apparel company Puma. It is the first time in the history of the club and A-League that they will not be wearing a kit that is made by Reebok.
