''Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior'' (''CAPES'', en, Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel), also known as CAPES Foundation, is a Brazilian federal government agency under the Ministry of Education, responsible for quality assurance in undergraduate and postgraduate institutions in Brazil. The agency evaluates educational establishments every two years, and grades them according to the quality of the courses provided. Scores range from 1 to 7, where 1 is the lowest — the maximum that an institution offering up to a master's degree will gain is 5, whereas an institution offering a doctorate will gain up to A 7. Qualis (CAPES)
Qualis is a Brazilian official system with the purpose of classifying scientific production. It is maintained by the Coordenadoria de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), a government agency linked to the Brazilian Ministry of Education. Qualis has the task to classify and evaluate the academic means used on the production of scientific publications of post-graduate programs (such as master theses and doctoral dissertations). Lattes Platform
The Lattes Platform is an information system (integrated database, web-based query interface, etc.) maintained by the Brazilian federal government to manage information on science, technology, and innovation related to individual researches and institutions working in Brazil. It is named after the Brazilian physicist Cesar Lattes. It is managed by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development.
