Condado Beach (Spanish language, Spanish: ''Playa del Condado'') is a large public-access beach located in Condado (Santurce), El Condado, a district of Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Santurce in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is considered a dangerous beach with strong undercurrents. Description Condado Beach is located along the Atlantic Ocean, Atlantic coast of the San Juan ''Barrios of Puerto Rico, barrio'' (district) of Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Santurce. The beach is named after Condado (Santurce), Condado, itself a constituting ''subbarrio'' (sector) of Santurce, found directly to the east of the Isleta de San Juan, Islet of San Juan. The beach itself extends from La Ventana al Mar, La Ventana al Mar Park on Ashford Avenue in the west to Punta Piedrita in the east. Ocean Park Beach is located further east. La Concha Renaissance San Juan Resort, also known as La Concha Resort, is a historic luxury resort located at the Condado (Santurce), Condado oceanfront within the district of Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Santurce in San Juan, Puerto Rico. History The La Concha Hotel opened in December 1958 during the ''Tropical Modernism Movement''. The hotel was publicly owned, by the government of Puerto Rico, and managed by the US-based Associated Federal Hotels chain. The main hotel building was designed by architects Osvaldo Toro and Miguel Ferrer, of the firm Toro Ferrer. The two men had previously designed the first modern luxury resort in San Juan, the Caribe Hilton. Another part of the complex, the seashell-inspired building for the restaurant ''La Pearl, Perla'', was designed by architect Mario Salvadori. The hotel's design incorporated tropical climate features such as cross-ventilation, natural illumination, open lobbies and seamless transitions between inside and outside space ...
