Comptroller Of Puerto Rico
The Comptroller of Puerto Rico is a constitutionally-created office charged with carrying out post-audits of the use of public funds in Puerto Rico. The Comptroller is appointed by the Governor of Puerto Rico and requires the advice and consent of both the Senate of Puerto Rico as well as the Puerto Rico House of Representatives for a term of office of ten years and until a successor is nominated, confirmed and qualified. Former Comptroller Manuel Díaz Saldaña's was the longest-serving comptroller, having served almost 13 years, until his successor, Yesmín Valdivieso, was appointed by Governor Luis Fortuño, confirmed and sworn in. Osvaldo Soto García
Osvaldo Soto García was Wanda Vazquez's nominee for Comptroller of Puerto Rico until he asked the governor to retire his nomination in September 2020. Biography Between 2006 and 2009, Soto García worked as a reporter for the WKAQ 580 AM radio station. He was Moca's public relations director and its head of the office of recreation and sports between 1996 and 2000. From 2000 to 2008 he was director of news, journalist, and moderator on the WABA 850 AM station in Aguadilla. He holds a degree in marketing from the University of Phoenix in Puerto Rico. Later, he obtained a juris doctor from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico School of Law, however he has not passed the bar. Soto García then worked as the Senate Chief of Public Affairs under senate president Thomas Rivera Schatz. Wanda Vázquez Garced
Wanda Emilia Vázquez Garced (born July 9, 1960) is a Puerto Rican politician and attorney who served as Governor of Puerto Rico from 2019 to 2021. Prior to her tenure as governor, she served as the 19th secretary of Justice, from 2017 to 2019. A member of the New Progressive Party and Republican Party of Puerto Rico, Vázquez is the second female governor in Puerto Rican history, after Sila María Calderón. She assumed the office following the resignation of Ricardo Roselló, and the judicial annulation of Pedro Pierluisi's short-lived government, in the aftermath of the Telegramgate Scandal. On August 16, 2020, she failed to secure the New Progressive Party nomination for Governor of Puerto Rico in the 2020 elections, losing to Pedro Pierluisi. Pedro Rosselló
Pedro Juan Rosselló González, (; born April 5, 1944) is a Puerto Rican physician and politician who served as the governor of Puerto Rico from 1993 to 2001. He was President of the New Progressive Party from 1991 to 1999 and 2003 to 2008, and served as Senator for the District of Arecibo from 2005 to 2008. His son, Ricardo was also Governor of Puerto Rico from 2017 to 2019. In 1988 Rosselló ran for Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, but lost to Jaime Fuster in the 1988 elections. From 1990 to 1991 he successfully challenged former Governor and then-NPP President Carlos Romero Barceló for the NPP's presidency. He was thereafter elected Governor of Puerto Rico in 1992 and in 1996 was re-elected by the widest electoral margin up to that date.
