''Comes with a Smile'' was a quarterly music-focused fanzine published in the United Kingdom between June 1997 and February 2006. The title originates from a lyric in Red House Painters' song "24". In 2001, ''Comes with a Smile'' released a now-out-of-print split 7-inch between the bands Arco and Rivulets. Catalog number (KWOZ01). From issue 5 onward, the magazine included a cover CD containing rare and often otherwise unavailable tracks by most of the artists interviewed within the magazine. A fanzine (blend of '' fan'' and ''magazine'' or ''-zine'') is a non-professional and non-official publication produced by enthusiasts of a particular cultural phenomenon (such as a literary or musical genre) for the pleasure of others who share their interest. The term was coined in an October 1940 science fiction fanzine by Russ Chauvenet and first popularized within science fiction fandom, and from there the term was adopted by other communities. Rivulets is the stage name of minimalist singer-songwriter Nathan Amundson. Biography Rivulets was the first artist signed to Low's Chairkickers Union record label in 2001. He then released his first, self-titled album in 2002 and DEBRIDEMENT in 2003. Rivulets was subsequently signed by Blast First, recording the album "you are my home" for Blast First Petite. "you are my home" was eventually licensed by Important Records and released in 2006, followed by We're Fucked in 2010, also on Important Records. This was followed by the critically acclaimed I Remember Everything on Jellyfant Records in 2014. Clive Painter
Clive Painter is an English musician, record producer and mastering engineer based in London. Since the mid-1990s, Painter has been known primarily as the producer and multi-instrumentalist in both Broken Dog and Tram, and he is currently active as a guitarist in The 99 Call and The Real Tuesday Weld. In 2001, he released an instrumental album '' Rocket Science'' on the Showstorm label under the name of Wolf. Described in the press as similar in style to an Ennio Morricone score and compared to Sigur Rós and Godspeed You Black Emperor. LD Beghtol (1964 – 2020), also known as "Uncle LD", was an American musician, art director and writer. He was best known for participating in The Magnetic Fields' ''69 Love Songs'' and writing the illustrated companion book '' 69 Love Songs, A Field Guide'' for the 33 1/3 book series. Beghtol was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was a founding member of the band Flare—aka Flare Acoustic Arts League—and the death-pop outfit LD & the New Criticism, and was also in the collective, Moth Wranglers. In 2012 Beghtol formed LD&CO, with Scott Sosebee ( Little Red Rocket) and others to record and play live; their debut single "Morgantown" was mixed by Kramer, but remains unreleased. James William Hindle
James William Hindle (also known as Jimmy Hindle) is a British singer-songwriter from Yorkshire. He released three albums in the 2000s on Badman Records before re-emerging in the 2010s as a member of Glasgow-based indie rock bands The Pooches and US Highball. Early life Hindle was born in Yorkshire and his early musical projects involved playing gigs in Leeds in various bands, including a punk band called Coping Saw.
