Coleman Mine
The Coleman Mine is an underground nickel and copper mine operated by Vale northwest of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. It is the flagship mine of Vale's Sudbury operation. The mine recently implemented the use of electric haul vehicles and installed an underground 4G LTE network. The mine is operated by a staff of 545 workers. Ore had been transported by rail or by truck for processing at Clarabelle Mill. Vale shut down processing at the mill in 2017 due to reduced output at adjacent mining operations. In telecommunications, long-term evolution (LTE) is a standard for wireless broadband communication for mobile devices and data terminals, based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA standards. It improves on those standards' capacity and speed by using a different radio interface and core network improvements. LTE is the upgrade path for carriers with both GSM/UMTS networks and CDMA2000 networks. Because LTE frequencies and bands differ from country to country, only multi-band phones can use LTE in all countries where it is supported. New Afton Mine
The New Afton mine is a Canadian gold and copper mine located west of the city of Kamloops in British Columbia. The mine is underground and is owned and operated by New Gold Inc. In 2019, the mine produced an output of of copper, and 69,000 ounces of gold. The Afton Group covers 61 claims on of property. As of December 2019, the proven and probable reserves of the mine were 1.0 million ounces of gold, 2.8 million ounces of silver, and 802 million pounds of copper. Kidd Mine
Kidd Mine or Kidd Creek Mine is an underground base metal mine north of Timmins, Ontario, Canada. It is owned and operated by Swiss multinational Glencore Inc. The mine was discovered in 1963 by Texas Gulf Sulfur Company. In 1981 it was sold to Canada Development Corporation, then sold in 1986 to Falconbridge Ltd., which in 2006 was acquired by Xstrata, which in turn merged with Glencore in 2013. Ore from the Kidd Mine is processed into concentrate at the Kidd Metallurgical Site, located southeast of the mine, which until 2010 also smelted the ore and refined the metal produced.
