Carrosserie Clément-Rothschild produced a series of Clément-Rothschild bodied automobiles in 1902, based on the Panhard-Levassor 7 hp chassis. History Carrosserie Clément-Rothschild were based at 33 Quai Michelet, Levallois-Perret, either adjacent to or in Adolphe Clément-Bayard's Levallois-Perret factory.There may have been two Rothschild coach-building enterprises active in Paris at that time, because J. Rothschild & Fils traded from 131 Avenue Malakoff but had been founded by Austrian-born Josef Rothschild in 1838 in Levallois-Perret, and was building automobile coachwork by 1894. By 1896 the business had been purchased by Edmond Rheims and Leon Auscher and pioneered aluminium composite coachwork. By 1903 a Clément-Talbot Type CT4K 18hp four cylinder was described as 'Coachwork by J.Rothschild et Fils, Paris'. Gustave Adolphe Clément, from 1909 Clément-Bayard (22 September 1855 – 10 March 1928), was a French entrepreneur. An orphan who became a blacksmith and a ''Compagnons du Tour de France, Compagnon du Tour de France'', he went on to race and manufacture bicycles, pneumatic tyres, motorcycles, automobiles, aeroplanes and airships. In 1894, he was a passenger in the winning vehicle in the world's first competitive motor event. Albert Lemaître's Peugeot was judged to be the winner of the Paris–Rouen (motor race), Paris–Rouen 'Competition for Horeseless Carriages' (''Concours des Voitures sans Chevaux''). As a result of selling the manufacturing rights to his ''Clément'' car, he added ''Bayard'' to the name of his new business. Levallois-Perret () is a commune in the Hauts-de-Seine department and Île-de-France region of north-central France. It lies some from the centre of Paris in the north-western suburbs of the French capital. It is the most densely populated town in Europe and, together with neighbouring Neuilly-sur-Seine, one of the most expensive suburbs of Paris. Clément-Talbot Limited was a British motor vehicle manufacturer with its works in Ladbroke Grove, North Kensington, London, founded in 1903. The new business's capital was arranged by Charles Chetwynd-Talbot (whose family name became the brand-name and whose family crest became the trademark), shareholders included automobile manufacturer, Adolphe Clément, along with Baron A. Lucas and Emile Lamberjack,Jean-Émile Lamberjack 1869–1912. Emile and his brother Dominique, whose father ran a restaurant on Paris's rue de Clichy, began by racing bicycles then motorcycles and started exporting French cars. Emile helped establish a Michelin tyre factory in Milton New Jersey.
