Chrome Orange
Chrome orange is a mixed oxide with the chemical formula Pb2CrO5. It can be made by treating a lead(II) salt with an alkaline solution of a chromate or by treating chrome yellow (PbCrO4) with strongly basic solution.. Synthesis and nanoparticles Pb2CrO5 can be synthesized with a gas-liquid precipitation process. Changing the pH controls whether PbCrO4 or Pb2CrO5 is created. Orthorhombic nanocrystals can be selectively synthesized in a facile room temperature solution for Pb2CrO5. Using a microwave-assisted ionic liquid (MAIL) method, bundle and rod-like nanocrystals of Pb2CrO5 were formed. The bundles look like bundles of straw, secured in the middle. In basic solution, single-crystalline Pb2CrO5 could be formed by heating lead acetate and potassium dichromate with microwave radiation for only 10 minutes at 90 celsius. Prof. Louis Nicolas Vauquelin FRS(For) HFRSE (16 May 1763 – 14 November 1829) was a French pharmacist and chemist. He was the discoverer of both chromium and beryllium. Early life Vauquelin was born at Saint-André-d'Hébertot in Normandy, France, the son of Nicolas Vauquelin, an estate manager, and his wife, Catherine Le Charterier. His first acquaintance with chemistry was gained as laboratory assistant to an apothecary in Rouen (1777–1779), and after various vicissitudes he obtained an introduction to A. F. Flaming June
''Flaming June'' is a painting by Sir Frederic Leighton, produced in 1895. Painted with oil paints on a square canvas, it is widely considered to be Leighton's magnum opus, showing his classicist nature. It is thought that the woman portrayed alludes to the figures of sleeping nymphs and naiads the Greeks often sculpted. ''Flaming June'' disappeared from view in the early 1900s and was rediscovered in the 1960s. It was auctioned shortly after, during a period of time known to be difficult for selling Victorian era paintings, where it failed to sell for its low reserve price of US$140 (the equivalent of $1,126 in modern prices). After the auction, it was promptly purchased by the Museo de Arte de Ponce in Ponce, Puerto Rico. It is currently on loan to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where it will be on display until February 2024. Frederic Leighton, 1st Baron Leighton, (3 December 1830 – 25 January 1896), known as Sir Frederic Leighton between 1878 and 1896, was a British painter, draughtsman, and sculptor.
