Chris Haviland
Christopher Douglas Haviland (born 27 February 1952) is an Australian politician. Born in Sydney, he has worked as a public servant with the Commonwealth Department of Health, a teacher, a maths tutor and an umpire for Sydney Grade Cricket. He was district cricketer in Sydney and Perth. He is a leading activist for party democratisation and is an active member of the progressive Left faction. He is the New South Wales State Convenor of grassroots party reform organisation Local Labor. Since 2014, Chris Haviland has been an active member of the New South Wales Labor Party Administrative Committee and is currently the President of the Hawkesbury Branch of the Australian Labor Party. The Division of Macarthur is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. History The division is named after John Macarthur and his wife Elizabeth, who were both pioneers of Australia's wool industry. The main products and work in the electorate are in the fruit and vegetable production, lucerne and fodder crops, wine, dairy cattle and horse-breeding. Macarthur has changed hands regularly over the years as redistributions have favoured different parties. The Division of Bradfield is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. History Bradfield was created in the 1949 expansion of Parliament, and was named in honour of Dr John Bradfield, the designer of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Its first member was Billy Hughes, a former Prime Minister of Australia and the last serving member of the first federal Parliament. The bulk of the seat was carved out of North Sydney, which Hughes represented from 1923 to 1949. After Hughes, its best-known member was Brendan Nelson, a minister in the third and fourth Howard Governments and the federal Leader of the Opposition from 2007 to 2008. 2019 Australian Federal Election
The 2019 Australian federal election was held on Saturday 18 May 2019 to elect members of the 46th Parliament of Australia. The election had been called following the dissolution of the 45th Parliament as elected at the 2016 double dissolution federal election. All 151 seats in the House of Representatives (lower house) and 40 of the 76 seats in the Senate (upper house) were up for election. The second-term incumbent minority Liberal/National Coalition Government, led by Prime Minister Scott Morrison, won a third three-year term by defeating the opposition Australian Labor Party, led by Opposition Leader Bill Shorten.
