Charles De Solier, Comte De Morette
Charles de Solier, comte de Morette (1480 – 1 February 1552), the son of Aubertin de Solier, comte de Morette (1465–1545), was a French soldier and diplomat as well as a long-serving ''gentilhomme de la chambre'' to Francis I of France, Francis I. He acted as ambassador to Kingdom of England, England on a number of occasions from October 1526 to June 1535. Morette was in London in 1534 when Henry VIII of England, Henry VIII was attempting to win French support for his repudiation of Catherine of Aragon, in an alliance against Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, Charles V. Around this time, his portrait was painted by Hans Holbein the Younger. He was succeeded as ambassador by Antoine de Castelnau, Roman Catholic Diocese of Tarbes-et-Lourdes, Bishop of Tarbes. Hans Holbein the Younger ( , ; german: Hans Holbein der Jüngere;  – between 7 October and 29 November 1543) was a Germans, German-Swiss people, Swiss painter and printmaker who worked in a Northern Renaissance style, and is considered one of the greatest portraitists of the 16th century. He also produced religious art, satire, and Protestant Reformation, Reformation propaganda, and he made a significant contribution to the history of book design. He is called "the Younger" to distinguish him from his father Hans Holbein the Elder, an accomplished painter of the International Gothic, Late Gothic school. Holbein was born in Augsburg but worked mainly in Basel as a young artist. At first, he painted murals and religious works, and designed stained glass windows and illustrations for books from the printer Johann Froben.
