Charles Morerod
Charles Morerod, O.P. (born 28 October 1961), is a Swiss (people), Swiss Dominican Order, Dominican prelate. Since 2011, he has been Roman Catholic Diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg, bishop of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg. Previously, he served as Rector of the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum), professor of dogmatic theology, and Secretary General of the International Theological Commission. Early life and education Morerod was born on 28 October 1961 in Riaz, Switzerland. He entered the Dominican novitiate in 1983, and was ordination, ordained a priest in 1988. Morerod earned a Licentiate (degree), licentiate in theology from the University of Fribourg in 1987, and a doctorate in theology from the same university in 1994. The University of Fribourg (french: Université de Fribourg; german: Universität Freiburg) is a public university located in Fribourg, Switzerland. The roots of the university can be traced back to 1580, when the notable Jesuit Peter Canisius founded the Collège Saint-Michel in the City of Fribourg. In 1763, an academy of law was founded by the state of Fribourg which formed the nucleus of the present Law Faculty. The University of Fribourg was finally created in 1889 by an Act of the parliament of the Swiss Canton of Fribourg. Luis Ladaria Ferrer
Luis Francisco Ladaria Ferrer (born 19 April 1944) is a Spanish Jesuit, theologian and a cardinal of the Catholic Church. After a thirty-year career teaching theology, he joined the Roman Curia in 2004 as Secretary-General of the International Theological Commission. He was made an archbishop when named secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) in 2008 and was raised to the rank of cardinal in 2018, after becoming prefect of the CDF in 2017. Fribourg Cathedral (french: Cathédrale Saint-Nicolas de Fribourg) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Fribourg, Switzerland, built in the Gothic style, on a rocky outcrop 50 metres above the river Sarine (Saane), dominating the medieval town below. Ecumenism (), also spelled oecumenism, is the concept and principle that Christians who belong to different Christian denominations should work together to develop closer relationships among their churches and promote Christian unity. Charles Journet
Charles Journet (26 January 1891 – 15 April 1975) was a Swiss Roman Catholic theologian. He was the first Swiss named a cardinal. Journet has been considered a figure of holiness and a candidate for canonisation; he has been accorded the title servant of God. Life Charles Journet was born in Geneva in 1891 as the son of Jean-Louis Journet and Jenny Bondat. He was baptized on the same day in the church of Sacré-Coeur and Confirmed there on 12 June 1903 by Bishop Joseph Déruaz. He studied at the seminary in Fribourg before being ordained to the priesthood on 15 July 1917. He then did pastoral work in the Diocese of Fribourg until 1924 and taught at the seminary there from 1924 to 1965. He established the theological journal ''Nova et Vetera'' in 1926.
