Voivodeship Sejmik
A voivodeship sejmik ( pl, sejmik województwa), also known as a provincial or regional assembly, is the regional-level elected legislature for each of the sixteen voivodeships of Poland. Machnikowski et al., p. 21 Sejmiks are elected to five-year terms, decided during nationwide local elections. The size of the legislative assembly varies for each voivodeship depending on the population; in lower populated provinces, there are 30 members, while in the most populous (Masovian Voivodeship) there are 51 members. Elected representatives of an assembly are known as councillors (''radni''). Jerzy Czerwiński (; born 19 June 1960) is a Polish politician. He was elected to the Senate of Poland (10th term) representing the constituency of Opole. Life In 1984, he graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the Silesian University of Technology, in 1993 he completed postgraduate studies in computer science at the Pedagogical University of Opole, and in 2013 he completed postgraduate studies in teaching mathematics in schools at the Silesian University of Technology. Antoni Macierewicz (; born 3 August 1948) is a Polish politician and the former Minister of National Defence. He previously served as the Minister of Internal Affairs, Head of the Military Counterintelligence Service, and Minister of State in the Ministry of National Defence. Employing nonviolent civil disobedience, Macierewicz was one of the founders in 1976 of the Workers' Defense Committee, a major anti-communist opposition organization that was a forerunner of Solidarity. During the 1980s Macierewicz directed the Centre for Social Research of Solidarity and was one of the trade union's key advisors.
