Castleknock Community College, is an Ireland, Irish secondary school located on Carpenterstown Road in Castleknock, Fingal in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Established in 1995, the school is overseen by the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board. History The school opened on 30 August 1995 in temporary accommodation at Hartstown Community School. An official visit by the Minister for Education, Niamh Bhreathnach, took place in December 1996. The first students sat the Irish Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate examination in June 2000. As of 2013, the school had an enrollment of over 1,100 students, and a teaching staff of 94 full-time and part-time teachers. After a number of years of campaigning and protest, the school received previously promised funding in 2014 for a new sports hall and classrooms. Castleknock () is an affluent suburb located west of the centre of Dublin city, Ireland. It is centered on the village of the same name in Fingal. In addition to the suburb, the name "Castleknock" also refers to older units of land division: a townland, a civil parish and a barony. Fingal ( ; ) is a county in Ireland. It is located in the province of Leinster and is part of the Eastern and Midland Region. It is one of three successor counties to County Dublin, which was disestablished for administrative purposes in 1994. Niamh Bhreathnach
Niamh Síle Bhreathnach (; born 1 June 1945) is a former Irish Labour Party politician who served as Minister for Education from 1993 to 1994 and 1994 to 1997. She served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dún Laoghaire constituency from 1992 to 1997. She was a Senator from June 1997 to July 1997, after being nominated by the Taoiseach. She is one of a few TDs to be appointed a Minister on their first day in the Dáil as a TD. Bhreathnach was born in Loughlinstown, Dublin in 1945. She is the daughter of Breandán Breathnach, a civil servant and collector of traditional music. The Leaving Certificate Examination ('' ga, Scrúdú na hArdteistiméireachta''), commonly referred to as the Leaving Cert or (informally) the Leaving ('' ga, Ardteist , links=no''), is the final exam of the Irish secondary school system and the university matriculation examination in Ireland.
