Caso Cerrado
''Caso cerrado'' (''Case Closed''), formerly ''Sala de parejas'' (''Couples' Court''), is a Spanish-language court show broadcast by Telemundo in which Cuban-American lawyer Ana María Polo arbitrates cases for volunteer participants. Description The show began running on April 2, 2001, and originally dealt with the arbitration of marital problems between litigants. The show was originally called ''Sala de parejas'' (Couple's Court) until April 2005, when it was expanded to include other disputes not related to marital issues, such as violence and child abuse, and occasional segments where Polo seeks to educate the audience about issues related to the law. Along with the show's new format and new content added, production decided it was necessary to rename it. ''Caso Cerrado'', the second and current show title, refers to the phrase Polo says at the end of every case, which is usually accompanied by the strike of a gavel. Ana María Cristina Polo González (born 11 April 1959) is a Cuban-American television arbitrator on '' Caso Cerrado'' and ''Ana Polo Rules''. Born in Havana, Cuba, Ana moved to Puerto Rico when she was 2 years old accompanied by her family. Later, they moved to Miami where she participated in different musicals including ''Godspell'', ''Jubilee'' and ''Show Boat'' in addition to singing with the chorus of ''Jubilee'', which was invited by Pope Paul VI to sing at St. Peter's Basilica as part of the celebration of the 1975 Holy Year. She is now is the arbitrator on a show called ''Caso Cerrado'', which airs on Telemundo at different times throughout the entire day and she even performed the show’s theme song. ''La Corte del Pueblo'' (translated ''The People's Court'') is a Spanish-language reality court show that originally aired on KWHY-TV in Los Angeles but later moved to Telemundo. The show was presided over by Cristina Pérez in its first season. When the show moved to Telemundo, Los Angeles-based lawyer Manuel Franco took over the bench. ''Judge Judy'' is an American arbitration-based reality court show presided over by former Manhattan Family Court Judge Judith Sheindlin. The show featured Sheindlin as she adjudicated real-life small-claims disputes within a simulated courtroom set. Prior to the proceedings, all involved parties signed arbitration contracts agreeing to Sheindlin's ruling. The show aired in first-run syndication. As it was during its active years in production, it continues to be distributed by CBS Media Ventures in syndication, now in reruns that still draw notably high ratings.
