Carola Durán
Carlina Durán Baldera (born January 17, 1987 in Concepción de La Vega) is a Dominican model who won the national crown of Miss Dominican Republic 2012, initially giving her the right to compete in Miss Universe 2012 representing her country in December 2012. After representing her home province of La Vega in the 2012 Miss Dominican Republic, Carola was crowned by Miss Dominican Republic 2011 Dalia Fernandez. She later got dethroned for admitting she had been married in 2009. Biography Durán was a culinary student in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, where she graduated at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra. She first started modeling at the age of 15. Her first pageant was Miss World La Vega, and was able to compete in the Reina Nacional de la Belleza República Dominicana 2011, in which she placed as first runner up. La Vega Province
La Vega () is a province of the Dominican Republic. Until 1992 it included what is now Monseñor Nouel province. History The first settlement made by Christopher Columbus in the area was on December 8, 1494. Its initial economic development was based on gold mining. In the early 16th century, it had a cathedral, plus two convents, the fort, a building that functioned as a hospital, and administration buildings. In La Vega the first coin was minted and the first merchants settled. It is also the site of one of the mayor battles between Spaniards and indigenous people. On December 2, 1562, the city was destroyed by an earthquake, being moved to the southern bank of the Camú River. The second foundation of the city corresponds to its current location and it is believed that it took place between the years 1562 and 1563. Dulcita Lynn Lieggi Francisco (born 19 May 1989, in Santo Domingo) is a Dominican actress, model and beauty pageant title-holder. Ms. Lieggi was originally placed first runner-up to Carola Durán at Miss Dominican Republic 2012, but later Durán was dethroned and the title was given to Lieggi. Lieggi then represented the Dominican Republic at Miss Universe 2012. Dalia Cristina Fernández Sánchez (born January 3, 1990 in Santiago de los Caballeros) is a Dominican beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Dominican Republic 2011 and represented the country in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant. In 2012 she was elected by Luz García’s ''Noche de Luz'' programme as a "Summer’s Hot Body". Early life Prior to her participation in Miss Dominican Republic 2011, Fernández competed in Reina Mundial del Banano 2009 in Machala, Ecuador on September 23, 2009. As the eventual first runner-up of the event, she won a crown made of 500 green pearls, tourmaline gem stones, and 700 crystals in silver finish.
