Carlos Fávaro
Carlos Henrique Baqueta Fávaro (born 18 October 1969) is a Brazilian agricultural and politician. In April 2018, he resigned from the office of Vice Governor of Mato Grosso. Biography He embarked on a political career after years of work in the agribusiness, where he had become Vice President of the Soy Producers Association of Brazil (Aprosoja Brasil) in 2010 and President in 2012. He had also presided the Agroindustrial Cooperative of Lucas do Rio Verde (Cooperbio Verde) from 2007 to 2011. Fávaro was also delegate in the Soy and Corn Producers Association of Mato Grosso (Aprosoja). In the 2014 elections, as a member of the Progressive Party (PP), he was elected Vice Governor of Mato Grosso in the first round, in a ticket led by Pedro Taques (PSDB), receiving 57.25% of the valid votes. Brazilian Senate
The Federal Senate ( pt, Senado Federal) is the upper house of the National Congress of Brazil. When created under the Imperial Constitution in 1824, it was based on the House of Lords of the British Parliament, but since the Proclamation of the Republic in 1889 and under the first republican Constitution the Federal Senate has resembled the United States Senate. Mato Grosso
Mato Grosso ( – lit. "Thick Bush") is one of the states of Brazil, the third largest by area, located in the Central-West region. The state has 1.66% of the Brazilian population and is responsible for 1.9% of the Brazilian GDP. Neighboring states (from west clockwise) are: Rondônia, Amazonas, Pará, Tocantins, Goiás and Mato Grosso do Sul. Selma Arruda
Selma Rosane Santos Arruda (born 20 January 1963) is a Brazilian politician and retired judge. Although born in Rio Grande do Sul, she has spent her political career representing Mato Grosso, having served as state senator in 2019. Judicial career Arruda is an alumnus of the Centro Universitário Ritter dos Reis. She served as a state judge in the state of Mato Grosso from 1995 to 2017. Arruda gained fame and notoriety as a judge for her anti-corruption campaign, earning her the nickname "the Moro of Mato Grosso" after Sérgio Moro, the head judge of Operation Car Wash. In 2015 she ordered the arrest of former governor Silval Barbosa on corruption charges. She retired from judicial office in March 2017 after serving as a judge for 22 years. Progressistas
Progressistas (; PP) is a centre-right to right-wing political party in Brazil. Founded in 1995 as the Brazilian Progressive Party, it emerged from parties that were successors to ARENA, the ruling party of the Brazilian military dictatorship.
