Captain (Canadian Army And Air Force)
Captain is a rank in the Canadian military. In the Canadian Army, the rank insignia of an army captain is three pips. In the Royal Canadian Air Force, the rank insignia of an air force captain is two wide bars. In the Royal Canadian Navy, the rank of Captain (N) actually corresponds to that of Colonel. When the naval rank captain is written or typed, it is followed by the letter (N) to indicate that it is a naval rank to distinguish it from army and air force captains. The equivalent rank in the Royal Canadian Navy is Lieutenant (N). Its insignia is two stripes with the executive curl on the top stripe. The Canadian Army (french: Armée canadienne) is the command responsible for the operational readiness of the conventional ground forces of the Canadian Armed Forces. Ship-of-the-line Captain
Captain is the name most often given in English-speaking navies to the rank corresponding to command of the largest ships. The rank is equal to the army rank of colonel and air force rank of group captain. Equivalent ranks worldwide include ship-of-the-line captain (e.g. France, Argentina, Spain), captain of sea and war (e.g. Brazil, Portugal), captain at sea (e.g. Germany, Netherlands) and " captain of the first rank" (Russia).
