Calabasas Film Festival
The Calabasas Film Festival is an independent film festival that screens approximately 40 films each year. It is held in Calabasas, California , The Edwards Grand Palace, The Commons at Calabasas and Viewpoint School. It takes place over the course of a week in September. During the week of the festival, there are screenings, Q & A's, and filmmaker workshops throughout. History The festival is a non profit based on student screenings and events that has major film premieres, student films, and documentaries. The Inaugural Calabasas Film festival was held in September 2014 and included the US debut of the major film The Equalizer (film) starring, Denzel Washington and Chloë Grace Moretz. Film producers were in attendance and had a Q&A following the film's screening. In 2015, the festival welcomed Colin Hanks for his directorial debut of All Things Must Pass, the story about the rise and fall of Tower Records. The Commons at Calabasas is a retail and entertainment complex in Calabasas, California, United States, built, owned, and operated by Rick J. Caruso and his company Caruso Affiliated. It has now become a tourist destination as celebrities, such as Kim Kardashian, are frequently seen at the high-end shopping center. History Development of the upscale retail and entertainment complex began with a vision of an Umbrian village, complementing the community's dominant Mediterranean style. Viewpoint School
Viewpoint School is an independent school located in Calabasas, California. The school is coeducational, with students enrolled from Transitional Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. Enrollment in the 2014–15 school year was 1,200, making it the fourth largest institution in the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS). History In Viewpoint School's first year, 1961, it occupied leased facilities in Encino, California and enrolled 24 students. Mrs. Thelma Sitton was the school's first principal. The school's enrollment and recognition grew. Portions of the campus moved west and for several years shared space with a church on Platt Avenue in Woodland Hills.
