Caboolture–Bribie Island Road is a continuous road route in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. The route is designated as part of State Route 85. It is a state-controlled district road (number 126) rated as a local road of regional significance (LRRS). Route description Caboolture–Bribie Island Road commences at an intersection with the Bruce Highway in as State Route 85. Known as Bribie Island Road it runs east, passing the Caboolture–Beachmere Road exit, and then turns north-east. After passing the Old Toorbul Point Road exit it enters the locality of and turns south-east, east, and north-east before reaching the village of Ningi. Bruce Highway
The Bruce Highway is a major highway in Queensland, Australia. Commencing in the state capital, Brisbane, it passes through areas close to the eastern coast on its way to Cairns in Far North Queensland. The Sunshine Coast is a peri-urban region in South East Queensland, Australia. Pumicestone Channel
Pumicestone Channel, also known as the Pumicestone Passage, is a narrow waterway between Bribie Island and the mainland in Queensland, Australia. The northern extent of the passage is at Caloundra, while at the south is Deception Bay. The waterway is a two way tidal estuary that has 11 creeks flowing into it. At each end of the passage the channels are the deepest and widest. During periods of unusually high tides and large waves, the passage is infiltrated by inflows through channels in dunes at the northern tip of Bribie Island. History The channel was originally shown as Pumice-stone River on the maps of Matthew Flinders as he found an abundance of pumice stone lining the shoreline. Caboolture Airfield
Caboolture Airfield is an aerodrome catering to general aviation and ultralight aircraft located in Caboolture, Queensland, Australia, approximately north of the state capital Brisbane, adjacent to the Bruce Highway. Moreton Bay Penal Settlement
The Moreton Bay Penal Settlement operated from 1825 to 1842. It became the city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. History The Moreton Bay Penal Settlement was established on the Redcliffe Peninsula on Moreton Bay in 1824, under the instructions of John Oxley that a suitable location would be "easy of access, difficult to escape from, and hard to attack; furthermore, it should be near fresh water and contain three hundred acres for cultivation".
