Céline Banza
Céline Banza (born on the 12th February 1997) is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She is the winner of the 2019 RFI Discoveries Music Award. Career Banza was born in Kinshasa. She began her music career at a young age. In early 2010, she moved to Kisangani, where she met people who helped her develop a taste for music, dance, acting, and cinematography. At age 15, she returned to Kinshasa to study musicology at the National Institute of Arts where she met her band mates. In 2017, Banza made a brief appearance on '' The Voice Afrique Francophone''. In the process, she created her own group, "Banza Musik", and participated the following year in the exhibition "Kinshasa 2050. women first! before devoting herself to her new musical project. Afrobeats
Afrobeats, not to be confused with Afrobeat or Afroswing, is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Ghana, Nigeria, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of Ghana and Nigeria. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife, azonto music, and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the "Afrobeats" umbrella. Afrobeats is primarily produced in Accra, Lagos, and London. Fally Ipupa
Fally Ipupa N'simba (born 14 December 1977), known professionally as Fally Ipupa, is a Congolese musician and dancer. Often referred to as the "Prince of Rumba", he is known for his tenor vocals and his fusion of contemporary and traditional Congolese music genres, including Congolese rumba, soukous, and ndombolo. His lyrics often explore themes of romance, suffering, and joy. Born to a Mongo family in Kinshasa, Ipupa made his public musical debut in 1997, at the age of 20, with the Kinshasa-based band Talent Latent. In 1999, he joined Koffi Olomide's Quartier Latin International, and in 2006, he signed a record deal with Obouo Productions for his debut solo studio album, '' Droit Chemin'', which achieved gold status after selling over 100,000 copies within a month. Bedaya Singuila N'Garo (born 19 September 1977 in Suresnes), better known by his stage name Singuila (), is a French singer of Congolese and Central African origins. Singuila means "thank you" in Sango, a main language spoken in Central African Republic. He released his debut album in late 2004 entitled ''On ne vit qu'une fois'' (literally "We only live once") produced by Secteur Ä, a famous French rap label. Singles from the album included "Aïcha" and "C'est Trop". After a successful launching, he gained popularity in French-speaking countries throughout Europe. Oumou Sangaré (; born 25 February 1968) is a Malian Wassoulou singer of Fulani ( Fula) descent. She is often referred to as "The Songbird of Wassoulou". Wassoulou is a historical region south of the Niger River, where the music descends from age-old traditional song, often accompanied by a calabash. Early life Sangaré was born in 1968 to singer Aminata Diakité and Sidiki Sangaré, both of whom originated from the Wassoulou region. In 1970, her father took a second wife and moved to Abidjan, leaving Sangaré, her mother and her siblings behind in Bamako. Charlotte Dipanda (born 18 July 1985) in Yaoundé, Cameroon is a Cameroonian singer, who plays mostly acoustic music. Her lyrics are in French, her native language Bakaka, and in Douala.
