This is an alphabetical list of '' G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero'' characters who are members of the G.I. Joe Team. For Cobra characters, see '' List of Cobra characters''. Ace Ace is the G.I. Joe Team's original fighter pilot. His real name is Brad J. Armbruster, and his rank is Air Force captain O-3. Ace was born in Providence, Rhode Island. His primary military specialty is fixed wing pilot, and his secondary military specialty is intelligence operations. He spent time flying pipelines and flying stunt planes for films before enlisting in the United States Air Force, and later transferred to the G.I. Joe team. Prior to joining the Joes, he worked as a senior instructor for the USAF Fighter Weapons Squadron " Aggressors" (pilot combat training school). Ace was released in 1983 packaged with the "Sky Striker" fighter jet. A new figure was released as part of the 1992 "Battle Copters" line, with his name changed to "Wendall Armbruster". A Real American Hero
''G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero'' (also known as Action Force in Finland, Sweden and the UK) is a military-themed line of action figures and toys in Hasbro's G.I. Joe franchise. The toyline lasted from 1982 to 1994, producing well over 500 figures and 250 vehicles and playsets. The line reappeared in 1997 and has continued in one form or another to the present day. It was supported by two animated series as well as a major comic series published by Marvel Comics. The toyline continues to play a large part in Hasbro's G.I. Joe franchise. Origin "A Real American Hero" was created as a revival of the original G.I. Joe brand of the 1960s and 1970s. After the 12" figure had been absent from toy shelves for a few years, G.I. Joe was re-introduced in a action figure format following the success of the ''Star Wars'' and ''Micronauts'' 3″ scale toylines.
