Curd Jürgens
Curd Gustav Andreas Gottlieb Franz Jürgens (13 December 191518 June 1982) was a German-Austrian stage and film actor. He was usually billed in English-speaking films as Curt Jurgens. He was well known for playing Ernst Udet in '' Des Teufels General''. His English-language roles include ''James Bond'' villain Karl Stromberg in '' The Spy Who Loved Me'' (1977), Éric Carradine in '' And God Created Woman'' (1956), and Professor Immanuel Rath in '' The Blue Angel'' (1959). Early life Jürgens was born on 13 December 1915 in the Munich borough of Solln, Kingdom of Bavaria, German Empire. His father, Kurt, was a trader from Hamburg, and his mother, Marie-Albertine, was a French teacher. He had two elder twin sisters, Jeanette and Marguerite. Thalkirchen-Obersendling-Forstenried-Fürstenried-Solln ( Central Bavarian: ''Thoikircha-Obasendling-Forstnriad-Fiastnriad-Soin'') is the 19th borough of Munich, Germany, comprising the extreme southern part of the city on the west bank of the river Isar. After the administrative reform, the boroughs Thalkirchen-Obersendling-Forstenried and Solln were incorporated, thus forming the new borough. It comprises 17.7631 square kilometres and has a population of 96.714 residents (as of 2018 Subdivisions Thalkirchen Thalkirchen is located on the river Isar and is a mostly residential district. Sights include the Flaucher, a part of the Isarauen ("floodplains") and a popular recreation site, and Tierpark Hellabrunn (Munich Zoo) which can be found on the opposite side of the river from Thalkirchen. Wiener Mädeln
''Viennese Girls'' (German: ''Wiener Mädeln'') is a 1945 historical musical film directed by Willi Forst and starring Forst, Anton Edthofer and Judith Holzmeister. The film was made by Wien-Film, a Vienna-based company set up after Austria had been incorporated into Greater Germany following the 1938 Anschluss. It was the third film in Forst's "Viennese Trilogy" which also included '' Operetta'' (1940) and '' Vienna Blood'' (1942). The film was finished in 1945, during the closing days of the Second World War. This led to severe delays in its release, which eventually took place in 1949 in two separate versions. One was released by the Soviet-backed Sovexport in the Eastern Bloc and the other by Forst. Plot The composer Carl Michael Ziehrer produces twenty two operettas during his career, although he is overshadowed by the more successful Strauss Family (Johann Strauss I and his son Johann Strauss II). U-boat
U-boats were naval submarines operated by Germany, particularly in the First and Second World Wars. Although at times they were efficient fleet weapons against enemy naval warships, they were most effectively used in an economic warfare role (commerce raiding) and enforcing a naval blockade against enemy shipping. The primary targets of the U-boat campaigns in both wars were the merchant convoys bringing supplies from Canada and other parts of the British Empire, and from the United States, to the United Kingdom and (during the Second World War) to the Soviet Union and the Allied territories in the Mediterranean. German submarines also destroyed Brazilian merchant ships during World War II, causing Brazil to declare war on both Germany and Italy on 22 August 1942. ''The Enemy Below'' is a 1957 DeLuxe Color war film in CinemaScope about a battle between an American destroyer escort and a German U-boat during World War II. Produced and directed by Dick Powell, the movie stars Robert Mitchum and Curt Jürgens as the American and German commanding officers. The film was based on the 1956 novel by Denys Rayner, a British naval officer involved in anti-submarine warfare throughout the Battle of the Atlantic. Plot The American USS ''Haynes'' detects and attacks a German U-boat that is on its way to rendezvous with a German merchant raider in the South Atlantic Ocean.
