Don Cupitt
Don Cupitt (22 May 1934 – 18 January 2025) was an English philosopher of religion and academic of Christian theology. He had been an Anglican priest and a lecturer in the University of Cambridge, though he was better known as a popular writer, broadcaster and commentator. He was described as a "radical theologian", noted for his ideas about "non-realist" philosophy of religion. Biography Cupitt was born in Oldham, Lancashire, England, on 22 May 1934. He was educated at Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey; Trinity Hall, Cambridge, where he graduated as a B.A. in 1955 and M.A. in 1958; and Westcott House, Cambridge. He studied, successively, natural sciences, theology and the philosophy of religion. In 1959, he was ordained deacon in the Church of England, becoming a priest in 1960. Joseph Cupitt
Joseph Cupitt (25 September 1867 – 6 May 1932) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire in 1905. Cupitt was born in Barrow Hill, Derbyshire, the son of Thomas Cupitt, a coal miner, and his wife Susannah. Cupitt himself became a miner. He played for Derbyshire in the 1892 season and in the 1893 season when the club was outside the championship. Twelve years later in the 1905 season he made his first-class debut, against Essex in May. He took one wicket in the match, that of future Test cricketer Claude Buckenham, though Derbyshire lost the match by an innings margin, in part thanks to a first-class best 277 runs from Charlie McGahey. His second and final first-class appearance came the following month, against Northamptonshire, against whom, he took two wickets but scored just a single run in two innings. Buster Cupit
John Winfred "Buster" Cupit (March 22, 1927 – July 17, 2023) was an American professional golfer. Early life Cupit was born in St. Louis, Missouri and grew up in Longview, Texas. His younger brother, Jacky Cupit, won four PGA Tour events. Professional career Cupit worked primarily as a club pro but also played on the PGA Tour. In 1961, he almost won in consecutive tournaments only to finish second in both. At the St. Paul Open, he lost by one stroke to Don January after leading by two strokes after 54 holes. A week later, he trailed his brother Jacky by one stroke entering the final round of the Canadian Open, but shot 75 to finish in a tie for second, five strokes behind his brother. His last full season on the PGA Tour came in 1966 when he started 16 events. His best finish in a major was a T-8 at the 1958 PGA Championship. Jacky Cupit
} Jacky Douglas Cupit (born February 1, 1938) is an American professional golfer who has played on both the PGA Tour and the Senior PGA Tour. Early life and amateur career Cupit was born and raised in Longview, Texas. His older brother, Buster, was a professional golfer who played mainly in Texas and Oklahoma. Cupit attended the University of Houston. As a member of the Cougars golf team, he earned All-American honors in 1959 and 1960. Professional career In 1960, Cupit turned pro. He joined the PGA Tour the following year. Cupit played on the PGA Tour from 1961 to 1973 and had four victories. His first came at the 1961 Canadian Open helping him to win the PGA's ''Rookie of the Year'' award. His last tour win came in 1966 at the Cajun Classic. Cupit's best finish in a major was runner-up at the U.S. Open in 1963, when he and Arnold Palmer lost to Julius Boros in a three-way playoff.
