Cupa României (men's Handball)
The Cupa României () is a Association football, football cup competition for List of football clubs in Romania, Romanian teams which has been held annually since 1933–34 Cupa României, 1933–34, except during World War II. It is the Romania, country's main cup competition, being open to all clubs affiliated with the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) and the county football associations regardless of the league they belong to. Currently, the winner of the competition is granted a place in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers and plays the Supercupa României. Most finals have been held at the Stadionul Național (1953), Stadionul Național (formerly known as "23 August"), and occasionally at other stadiums in Bucharest. During the construction of the Arena Națională, new Stadionul Național, the final was staged each year in a different major city of the country. 2024–25 Cupa României
The 2024–25 Cupa României was the 87th season of the annual Romanian Association football, football cup competition. It is sponsored by Betano and known as the Cupa României Betano for sponsorship purposes. The winner will qualify for the first qualifying round of the 2025–26 UEFA Europa League, 2025–26 edition of the UEFA Europa League. The main competition will face all teams from Liga I through Liga III, which will be joined by 7 play-off winners from Liga IV. Schedule The schedule for this season of Cupa României was released on June 28. Regional stage Finals The finals of the regional stage were played on July 20. Fotbal Club FCSB (), formerly named and still sometimes referred to as FC Steaua București, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest. It has spent its entire history in the Liga I, the top flight of the Romanian football league system. The original ''Steaua București'' football team was founded in 1947 and belonged to the Ministry of National Defence, through the namesake CSA Steaua București sports club. In 1998, the football department and its facilities were separated from the latter and taken over by a group of shareholders in a post-Ceaușescu privatisation scheme, leading to one of the shareholders acquiring full ownership five years later.
