Cuca Tops FC
Cuca Tops FC is a Namibian football club based in Rundu which currently plays in the Namibia Premiership. History Cuca Tops FC was established in 1974 and is the oldest football club in Rundu and the entire Kavango East region. The club won the First Division North East for the 2023/2024 season and earned promotion to the Namibia Premiership. It would be the club's first season in Namibia's top flight since the 2002/2003 season, a twenty-two year absence. Rundu Sports Stadium
The Rundu Sports Stadium is an association football stadium in Rundu, Namibia with seating for 500 spectators. The grass-surface stadium is also capable of hosting athletics, netball, and basketball matches and is the only stadium in the Kavango East and Kavango West regions. The stadium is the home venue of Julinho Sporting and Cuca Tops of the Namibia Premiership and Rundu Chiefs and United Stars of the Namibia First Division. History The stadium was constructed in 1992. In 2016 the stadium underwent a renovation, including the installation of its first-ever floodlighting, in preparation to host several high-profile football tournaments. The Namibia Premiership, or the Debmarine Namibia Premiership for sponsorship reasons, is the highest level of domestic association football in Namibia. It operates under the auspices of the Namibia Football Association. History After ongoing financial and organizational problems with the Namibia Premier League (NPL), the Namibia Football Association expelled the league and founded a new top-flight league themselves following the 2018–19 season. Despite a planned debut season in 2021, the league finally played its first season in 2022-23 after securing major sponsorship funding. 2024–25 Namibia Premiership
The 2024–25 Namibia Premiership will be the third season of the Namibia Premiership, the top-tier association football, football league in Namibia. African Stars F.C., African Stars are the reigning champions after winning the championship for the second consecutive season. The new clubs promoted for the season were: KK Palace from the Northwest Division, Cuca Tops FC from the Northeast Division, and Namibia Correctional Service FC from the Southern Division. Rundu
Rundu is the capital and the largest city of the Kavango-East Region in northern Namibia. It lies on the border with Angola on the banks of the Kavango River, about above sea level. Rundu's population is growing rapidly. The 2001 census counted 36,964 inhabitants; and for the 2011 census it climbed to 63,430. Kavango East
Kavango East is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia. Its capital is Rundu, its governor is Bonifatius Wakudumo. The region was created in 2013 when the Kavango Region was split into Kavango East and Kavango West. The only self-governing settlements in Kavango East are the capital Rundu and the village of Divundu. The region contains the western half of the Caprivi Strip. In the north, Kavango East borders the Cuando Cubango Province of Angola, and in the south and southeast the North-West District of Botswana. The Namibia Premier League (NPL) was the highest level of domestic association football in Namibia until it was disbanded following the 2018-19 season. The league was established in 1990 and was trimmed to 12 teams from the traditional 16 in 2005. It was disbanded in 2020 after ongoing problems with the Namibia Football Association, which finally ended their relationship. The NFA founded the Namibia Football Premier League to replace it.
