Crundmáel Bolg Luatha
Crundmáel Bolg Luatha mac Áedo (died 628) was a King of Uí Cheinnselaig. He was the grandson of a previous king Éogan Cáech and great-great grandson of the Leinster king Crimthann mac Énnai (died 483). He ruled from 625 to 630 and succeeded Rónán mac Colmáin of the Sil Chormaic sept as King of Ui Cheinnselaig. The annals record that he was besieged in 626 by the Ui Neill and the ''Annals of Ulster'' call this the "sack of ashes". Crimthann Mac Énnai
Crimthann mac Énnai (died 483) was a King of Leinster from the Uí Cheinnselaig sept of the Laigin. He was the son of Énnae Cennsalach, the ancestor of this dynasty. Biography It is not known when he acquired the throne but, in the annals record of the Battle of Áth Dara, on the River Barrow in Mag Ailbe (South County Kildare), in 458, both the ''Annals of Ulster'' and the '' Chronicum Scotorum'' name Crimthann as the leader of the Laigin forces. The Laigin defeated the high king Lóegaire mac Néill (died 462) and captured him. They released him after he promised not to levy the cattle-tribute from Leinster again. Crimthann was baptized by Saint Patrick at Ráith Bilech ( Rathvilly Moat, Co.Carlow) The ''Annals of the Four Masters'' claim he was present at the Battle of Ocha of 482 when the high king Ailill Molt was slain but this is not confirmed by the other annals. Rónán Mac Colmáin
Rónán mac Colmáin was a King of Leinster following Brandub mac Echach (died 605). There were two men named Rónán mac Colmáin active in Leinster in the early seventh century and confusion exists as to which one was king. Some later sources confuse the two Rónáns, but historian Francis John Byrne notes that the earliest sources do not. Uí Cheinnselaig king The first was Rónán mac Colmáin (died 624) He was King of the Uí Cheinnselaig and was the son of Colmán mac Cormaicc of the Sil Chormaic sept. The historian Francis John Byrne believes he was the one who was King of Leinster. His death is mentioned in both the ''Annals of Tigernach'' and the ''Annals of Ulster''. The later Leinster king Crundmáel Erbuilc mac Rónáin (died 656) was his son. Other sons were Blathmac (died 658) and Cummascach, a King of Uí Cheinnselaig. Fáelán Mac Colmáin
Fáelán mac Colmáin (died 666) was a King of Leinster from the Uí Dúnlainge branch of the Laigin. He was the son of Colmán Már mac Coirpri, a previous king. Faelan was the founder of the true fortunes of the Ui Dunlainge dynasty.Byrne, pg.151 Rise to the throne Faelan is first mentioned in the annals when he defeated and slew Crundmáel Bolg Luatha of the Uí Cheinnselaig at the Battle of Duma Aichir in 628. The annals seem to give him the title of king of Leinster by anticipation. Then in alliance with Faílbe Flann mac Áedo Duib (died 637), the king of Munster and Conall Guthbinn mac Suibni (died 635) of the Clann Cholmáin he defeated and slew Crimthann mac Áedo (died 633), the Uí Máil king of Leinster, at the Battle of Áth Goan in western Liffey. From this date he becomes king of Leinster. The ''Book of Leinster'' gives him a reign of 30 years and his death obit of 666 in the annals appears to be an interpolation based on the king lists. Uí Dúnlainge
The Uí Dúnlainge, from the Old Irish "grandsons (or descendants) of Dúnlaing", were an Irish dynasty of Leinster kings who traced their descent from Dúnlaing mac Énda Niada, a fifth-century King of Leinster. He was said to be a cousin of Énnae Cennsalach, eponymous ancestor of the rival Uí Ceinnselaig. Their claims to the kingship of Leinster were unopposed after the death of Áed mac Colggen in the Battle of Ballyshannon on 19 August 738. Three of the sons of Murchad mac Brain (d. 727), Dunchad, Faelan and Muiredach reigned in turn after him as kings of Leinster. These kings were progenitors of the most powerful branches of Uí Dunlainge in the following three centuries: Uí Dunchada, Uí Faelain and Uí Muiredaig. The 7th century is the period from 601 through 700 in accordance with the Julian calendar in the Christian Era.
