Cruise Mill, Missouri
Cruise Mill is an unincorporated community in northeast Washington County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community was on Old Mines Creek and just north of Missouri Route 21 and east of the intersection of routes 21 and 47. Washington State Park is one mile to the east on route 21. History A post office called "Cruise" was established in 1882, and remained in operation until 1941. Washington County is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 United States census, the population was 23,514. Missouri Route 21
Route 21 is a highway in eastern Missouri. Its northern terminus is at Route 30 in Affton. Its southern terminus is at the Arkansas-Missouri state line (where it continues as Highway 115). In the St. Louis area, it is known as Tesson Ferry Road, which was named after the 19th century proprietor of the ferry across the Meramec River. Route 21 from the Meramec River to Route B, along with Route M, make up the Jefferson County Scenic Byway. Improvements The section through northern Jefferson County, Missouri was considered dangerous. As a result, the road was rerouted and built to freeway standards. Construction to reroute the highway to just south of Hillsboro was completed on December 15, 2008 and Route 21 is currently freeway standard from Route 141 to Highway B. Missouri Route 47
Route 47 is a highway in eastern Missouri. Its northern terminus is at Route 79 near Winfield; its southern terminus is at U.S. Route 67 in Bonne Terre. Route description The highway begins at Route 79 in Winfield, MO, where it travels due west towards Troy and Hawk Point, where it turns south and meets Interstate 70 in Warrenton. After Warrenton, the highway continues south to Marthasville, where it intersects with Route 94. The two highways share a concurrency through the Missouri River bottomlands for approximately 4 miles to near Dutzow. The highway still continues south across the Missouri River into Washington, where it intersects Route 100. From Washington, Route 47 goes down to Union, where it meets up with US Route 50. Washington State Park
Washington State Park is a public recreation area covering in Washington County in the central eastern part of the state of Missouri. It is located on Highway 21 about northeast of Potosi or southwest of De Soto on the eastern edge of the Ozarks. The state park is noted for its Native American rock carvings and for its finely crafted stonework from the 1930s. Stone carvings The carvings, or petroglyphs, carved in fixed dolomite rock, are believed to have been made around 1000 to 1600 CE and to give clues to the lives of the prehistoric Native Americans who once inhabited this part of Missouri.
