Criciúma Esporte Clube is a Brazilian professional club based in Criciúma, Santa Catarina (state), Santa Catarina founded on 13 May 1947. Criciúma is the most successful team from Santa Catarina, having won the 1991 Copa do Brasil, the 2002 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, and the 2006 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C. History Criciúma Esporte Clube was founded on May 13, 1947, as Comerciário Esporte Clube; however the club folded due to a financial crisis in the 1960s. The club was refounded in 1976 by some of the original Comerciário Esporte Clube members. In 1978 the club was renamed as Criciúma Esporte Clube, and its current colors black, yellow and white were adopted in 1984. The present colors of Criciúma Esporte Clube are the reason the club is called Tigre (meaning Tiger). Estádio Heriberto Hülse, is a football stadium located in Criciúma, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The stadium holds 19,225 people. It was built in 1955. The stadium is owned by Criciúma Esporte Clube, and its formal name honors Heriberto Hülse, who was Santa Catarina's governor between 1958 and 1960, and was the donor of the stadium floodlights. History The inaugural match was played on 18 October 1955, when Imbituba beat Comerciário 1–0. The first goal of the stadium was scored by Imbituba's Valdo. The stadium's attendance record currently stands at 32,534 people, set on 20 May 1995, when Criciúma and São Paulo drew 1-1 in the Copa Libertadores. Luciano Castán da Silva (born September 13, 1989) is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Criciúma as a central defender. Club career Castán started his professional career with União São João in 2007, before moving to Santos in January 2010. However, he appeared only once during his time in ''Peixe'', starting and being sent off in a 4–2 home win against Sertãozinho, for the Paulista championship. Castán moved to Ponte Preta on loan in December 2010. After again serving as a backup (only 180 minutes of action), he joined Paraná in February. The 2024 Recopa Catarinense was the sixth edition of a state football " super-cup" tournament organized by the Federação Catarinense de Futebol (FCF). It was played in a single match between Criciúma, winner of the 2023 Campeonato Catarinense and Marcílio Dias, winner of the 2023 Copa Santa Catarina. The match, held on 16 January 2024, at the Estádio Heriberto Hülse, Criciúma emerged victorious with a score of 2-0 and won their first title of the tournament.
