Crib Point
Crib Point is a town on the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula local government area. Crib Point recorded a population of 3,343 at the 2021 census. The town is part of an urban enclave on Western Port comprising Bittern, Crib Point, Hastings, Tyabb, and Somerville. Crib Point is served by three railway stations: Morradoo, Crib Point and Stony Point, the latter of which is the terminus of the greater-metropolitan Stony Point line. Crib Point Post Office opened on 18 July 1890. The town has an Australian Rules football team competing in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League. Morradoo Railway Station
Morradoo railway station is a commuter railway station on the Stony Point line, part of the Melbourne railway network. It serves the town of Crib Point in Victoria, Australia. Morradoo is a ground level unstaffed station, featuring one side platform. It opened on 7 November 1960, with the current station provided in 1996. Initially opened as Rail Motor Stopping Place No. 15, the station was given its current name of Morradoo in 1996. History By November 1963, an platform was provided at the stopping place. Westernport Refinery
Westernport Refinery was an oil refinery operated by BP at Crib Point adjacent to Westernport Bay in the Australian state of Victoria. It was constructed from 1963 and started operations in 1966. Its last day of operation was 1 April 1985. Construction of the refinery began in December 1963. It was designed with an initial throughput of 1,500,000 tons of crude oil per annum, and able to be expanded to 2,200,000 tons per annum. It was served by a jetty with two berths for import of crude oil and export of refined products in bulk. Legal dispute Westernport Refinery was the centre of a significant legal dispute which went to appeal to the Privy Council of the United Kingdom as the highest available appellate court at the time. Victorian Maritime Centre
The Victorian Maritime Centre is an Australian maritime museum near Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is currently located at the former BP administration building at Crib Point, Victoria. There are plans to establish a larger maritime centre in Hastings, Victoria. The new site would feature HMAS Otama, an Oberon-class submarine operated by the Royal Australian Navy from 1978 to 2000.
