Crashdog
Crashdog was one of the first Christian punk bands and was active primarily in the early 1990s. Most of their albums were released by Grrr Records, which has also been home to Headnoise, Resurrection Band, and Glenn Kaiser, among others. Crashdog were known for their very direct lyrics, which they used to make social commentaries and discuss political issues of their day. Their albums included both strongly Christian songs and overtly political songs, often with a left-wing bent. They were one of the first Christian bands to do this; later Christian old-school punk and hardcore bands later followed suit. After their 1998 release, ''8 Years to Nowhere'' a selection of songs from previous recordings (originally called ''8 Years from Nowhere to Nowhere''), they decided to go on a one-year hiatus because their drummer, Greg Jacques along with Matt Switaj of The Blamed, was starting a new record label, 2 Jake Records. Headnoise
Headnoise, is early eighties old school female fronted, guitar driven, powerfully fast hardcore punk rock band. Founded in 1994 from the streets of Los Angeles, they have shared the stage with bands like, DI, Agent Orange, Chron Gen, JFA, T.S.O.L., Circle One, 7 seconds, Decry, Shattered Faith, Spider and others. They were on the forefront of the Southern California-based "JCHC" underground movement, along with Officer Negative, following in the footsteps of bands like The Crucified, Nobody Special, and Scaterd Few. Resurrection Band
Resurrection Band, also known as Rez Band or REZ, was a Christian rock band formed in 1972. They were part of the Jesus People USA Christian community in Chicago and most of its members have continued in that community to this day. Known for their blend of blues-rock and hard rock, Resurrection Band is credited as one of the forerunners of the Christian metal genre. ''Christianity Today'' called them "the most influential band in Christian music history." Following their debut in 1978, the band's greatest popularity was during the early 1980s, but later in the decade they received some crossover success when they had two music videos featured on MTV. Glenn Kaiser
Glenn Kaiser (born January 21, 1953) is an American, Chicago-based Christian rock, Christian music, Christian blues musician, singer, songwriter and pastor. He was the leader of Resurrection Band and is currently the leader of The Glenn Kaiser Band. Personal life Childhood Kaiser's older brother and sister left the house while he was still young and his parents divorced when he was nine years old. Kaiser was active in Milwaukee's music scene, starting at the age of twelve, and was a member of more than twelve bands, leading two, before reaching nineteen years of age. Glenn Kaiser was raised as a nominal Lutheran and used drugs before he became a born-again Christian, around the time of his eighteenth birthday. The Blamed
The Blamed is an American Christian hardcore punk band currently based out of Chicago. During their tenure they have played primarily hardcore punk, pop punk, punk rock, and emo music with some influences from metal as well. They originally are from California having relocated to Illinois after guitarist Bryan Gray moved to Chicago. The band originally formed in 1994 and disbanded in 2003. Members during this era of the band included Bryan Gray, Christopher Wiitala, Trevor Wiitala, Jeff Locke, Jim Chaffin, John Hansen, and Matt Switaj. They have released three albums, with Tooth & Nail Records, ''21'' in 1994, ''Frail'' in 1996, and ''Give Us Barabbas'' in 2002.
