CoxHealth is a six-hospital, 1,050 bed not-for-profit healthcare system headquartered in Springfield, Missouri. It serves a 25 county region of Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas. CoxHealth is Springfield's largest employer, and the 7th largest non-governmental employer in the state of Missouri with more than 12,605 people employed throughout the system. History CoxHealth started on Thanksgiving Day, in 1906, when Ellen Burge, the widow of a prominent Springfield lawyer, donated her frame duplex on Jefferson Avenue to be used as a Methodist hospital. It was named Burge Deaconess Hospital in her honor. The Burge Hospital grew due to the great need for expert healthcare in Southwest Missouri. In 1948, a Springfield business man, Lester E. Cox College (Missouri)
Cox College is a private college associated with the CoxHealth System in Springfield, Missouri. History The college was established in 1907 as Burge Deaconess Training School. In 2019, the college received approval from the Missouri State Board of Nursing to expand it's nursing class size from 250 to 400 students in anticipation of its completion of a $6.6 million renovation of the main campus in Springfield, making it the second largest nursing program in the state. In addition to expanding the main campus, Cox College also announced it would be creating satellite campuses in Branson and Monett that would offer Associate of Science in Nursing that would open in 2021. Monett is the most-populous city in the Barry and Lawrence counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. The city is located in the Ozarks, just south of Interstate 44 between Joplin and Springfield. The Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm Bo 105 is a light, twin-engine, multi-purpose helicopter developed by Bölkow of Ottobrunn, West Germany. The MD Helicopters MD Explorer is a light twin-engined utility helicopter designed and initially produced by the American rotorcraft specialist McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems.
