Courtney Paris
Courtney Paris (born September 21, 1987) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She is best known for her accomplishments during her college career at the University of Oklahoma, where she holds career averages of 21.4 points and 15.3 rebounds per game. She holds the NCAA record for most consecutive double-doubles at 112. During her senior season in 2009, Paris received considerable media attention when she announced that she would pay back her tuition to the University of Oklahoma if the Sooners did not win the 2009 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament. She would lead Oklahoma to the Final Four before falling short to eventual national runner-up Louisville. The USBWA National Freshman of the Year, with the men's and women's versions respectively named the Wayman Tisdale Award and Tamika Catchings Award, is an annual basketball award given to college basketball's most outstanding freshman male player and female player by the United States Basketball Writers Association, an association of college basketball journalists. The award was first given following the 1988–89 season for men, while the 1991–92 season marked the first season for the women's award. Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Tournament
The Big 12 Conference women's basketball tournament is the championship women's basketball tournament in the Big 12 Conference. The tournament is set to be held at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri until 2031. Due to a major conference realignment that significantly impacted the Big 12, the 2025 women's tournament will be the first tournament with 16 teams participating. At the beginning of the 2024–25 season, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah joined the conference. The tournament is sponsored by Phillips 66. The Tournament has been held every year since 1997, except in 2020 when it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. All sixteen teams will participate in the tournament. The Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year is a basketball award given to the Big 12 Conference's most outstanding player. The award was first given following the 1996–97 season, the first year of conference competition but three years after the conference's official formation. The Women's Basketball Coaches Association is an association of coaches of women's basketball teams at all levels.
