Andrew Edward Coulson (born 21 January 1968) is an English journalist and political strategist. Coulson was the editor of the ''News of the World'' from 2003 until his resignation in 2007, following the conviction of one of the newspaper's reporters in relation to illegal phone-hacking. He subsequently joined David Cameron's personnel as communications director, until announcing his departure on 21 January 2011 because of continued media coverage of the phone-hacking affair. The overall impact from his tenure came to be known as the "Coulson effect". Coulson was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Service on 8 July 2011 in connection with allegations of corruption and phone hacking. He was detained and charged with perjury by Strathclyde Police on 30 May 2012 in relation to evidence he had given in the trial of Scottish politician Tommy Sheridan in 2010, and cleared on 3 June 2015. John Hubert Arthur Coulson
John Bonett was the pen name of John Hubert Arthur Coulson (10 August 1906 – 21 January 1989), an English writer, best known for numerous mystery and detective novels written in collaboration with his wife, Emery Bonett. He was born in Longbenton, North Tyneside and educated at Durham School. In addition to his writing work, after serving in the Admiralty between 1940–45, he worked as a banker from 1924–37, a company secretary from 1937–39, and finally as a sales promotion executive, from 1945-63. He had one sister, (Desirée Rachel) Helen Coulson, born 12 June 1905. She died in a car accident on the M4, west of London in 1970. He lived in Spain with his wife during his later years. Sam Coulson (born 9 February 1987) is an English guitarist, best known for being a member of progressive rock band Asia from 2013 to 2018, after his guitar-playing skills were noticed on the video-hosting website YouTube. Biography He served as Secretary of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America from 1972 to 1974. Coulson and his wife, writer and filker Juanita Coulson, edited the mimeographed fanzine ''Yandro'', which was nominated for the Hugo Award 10 years in a row, from 1959 through 1968, and won in 1965. Michael James Coulson (born 4 April 1988) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker or winger for club Scarborough Athletic. Leslie Coulson
Leslie Coulson (19 July 1889 – 8 October 1916) was an English journalist and a poet of the First World War. Coulson was born in Kilburn, London, his father being a columnist for ''The Sunday Chronicle''. Leslie and his brother attended boarding school in Norfolk, and Leslie then worked as a reporter on the ''Evening News''. He joined the Royal Fusiliers in 1914, declining a commission as an officer and instead enlisting as a private. He carried out his training in Malta, then served in Egypt and Gallipoli before arriving at the Western Front in 1916. Coulson was fatally wounded at the Battle of Le Transloy, and died the next day.
