Cosmic Avenger
is a scrolling shooter developed by Universal Entertainment, Universal and released as an arcade video game in July 1981. It is part of the first wave shooters with forced horizontal scrolling which followed Konami's ''Scramble (video game), Scramble'' and ''Super Cobra'' from earlier in the year. It was released the same month as ''Vanguard (video game), Vanguard''. The final installment in Universal's ''Cosmic'' series, players take control of the Avenger space fighter and, as in ''Scramble'', use bullets and bombs against enemy air and ground forces. The world is one continuous level made up of different areas. The game was ported to ColecoVision as one of its August 1982 launch titles in North America. The ColecoVision version was more successful than the arcade original, garnering mostly positive reception from critics who praised the action, visuals, and sound effects. formerly known as and Universal, is a Japanese manufacturer of pachinko, slot machines, arcade games and other gaming products, and a publisher of video games. Aruze possesses licenses to both manufacture and distribute casino machines in the American states of Nevada, Mississippi and New Jersey. The company's corporate headquarters are in Tokyo. Spawning in video games refers to the process by which entities, such as player characters, non-player characters, enemies or items, are generated and placed into the game world. Closely related concepts include respawning, which involves reintroducing an entity after it has been removed (e.g., after a character's death) and despawning, the process by which an entity is removed from the game world, either automatically (e.g., after a set time) or in response to player actions. Originally the merger of two other puzzle magazines spun off from its parent publication ''Games'' magazine in the early 1990s, ''Games World of Puzzles'' was reunited with ''Games'' in October 2014. ''Creative Computing'' was one of the earliest magazines covering the microcomputer revolution. Published from October 1974 until December 1985, the magazine covered the spectrum of hobbyist/home/personal computing in a more accessible format than the rather technically oriented ''Byte (magazine), Byte''. The magazine was created to cover educational-related topics. Early issues include articles on the use of computers in the classroom, various simple programs like madlibs and various programming challenges, mostly in BASIC. is a List of maze chase games, maze chase video game produced by Universal Entertainment, Universal and released for Arcade game, arcades in 1981. Its gameplay is similar to ''Pac-Man'', with the primary addition of gates that change the layout of the maze, adding an element of Strategy video game, strategy to the genre. The arcade original was relatively obscure, but the game had wider recognition and success as a launch game for the ColecoVision console. ''Tilt'' was a French language, French magazine which began publication in September 1982, focused on computer and console gaming. It was the first French magazine specifically devoted to video games. The headquarters of the magazine was in Paris. The name of the magazine was a nod to the pinball term, where excessive nudging of a pinball machine would result in a "tilt" penalty, and the loss of a turn during gameplay.
