Corofin, County Galway
Corofin or Corrofin () is a village and parish in County Galway, Ireland, situated on the N17 road between Galway City and Tuam. History Corofin Castle is a mid-15th century tower house, now partly in ruins. Corrofin's Roman Catholic church is dedicated to Saint Colman and was built in the 1840s to replace an earlier 18th century chapel. Sport The local Gaelic football club, Corofin, have won five All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championships, most recently beating Kilcoo in the 2019-2020 Championship final. They also hold the record for most successive All-Ireland Club Championship titles, winning three-in-a-row between 2017 and 2020. A tower house is a particular type of stone structure, built for defensive purposes as well as habitation. Enda Scahill
Enda Scahill is an Irish banjo player from Corofin, County Galway. He is a four-time All-Ireland Champion and has performed with The Fureys, Frankie Gavin and The Chieftains. He is an ex-member of The Brock McGuire Band. Murder Of Eileen Costello O'Shaughnessy
Eileen Costello O'Shaughnessy was a 47-year-old Irish woman who was murdered on 30 November 1997 while working as a taxi driver in Galway city. Her murder remains unsolved. Background Costello O'Shaughnessy was originally from Corofin, County Galway. She was a mother of two adult children and was separated from her husband, a Garda. Following her separation, she moved in with her mother. She worked as a taxi driver in Galway and had previously worked as a hairdresser. Kieran Fitzgerald (Gaelic Footballer)
Kieran Fitzgerald (born 1 January 1981) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for Corofin between 1998 and 2020 and for the Galway county team between 2000 and 2011. Fitzgerald won an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medal in 2001. That year he also received an All Star He was named Galway captain in 2007, and made his International Rules Series debut in 2006. Fitzgerald dated Mairéad Meehan, a sister of the Galway inter-county footballers Declan, Michael, Noel and Tomás Meehan. Daithí Burke (born 16 November 1992) is an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who plays at senior level for the Galway county hurling team and for his clubs Turloughmore and Corofin. Burke made his debut for Galway against Laois, and was part of the team that reached the 2015 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final after defeating Tipperary in the semi-final. The Connacht Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Connacht Championship and shortened to Connacht SFC, is an annual Gaelic football competition for the senior county teams of Connacht GAA. All of the county teams of Connacht participate in the championship, as well as London county football team, London and New York county football team, New York. The winning team receives the Nestor Cup. The Connacht SFC is run on a knock-out basis through which teams are eliminated from the competition. The 2019–20 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship was the 50th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1970–71 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship, 1970–71. Kilcoo GAC
Kilcoo Owen Roes (Irish: Eoghan Rúa Cill Chua) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Kilcoo, County Down, Northern Ireland. It is the most successful club in the Down Senior Football Championship, having won the competition 21 times. The club has also won the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship twice and the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship once. History Kilcoo GAC was founded in 1906, although there were records of GAA being played there since the 1880s; a proper club wasn't formed until then. The All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament which began in season 1970–71. It is the top-tier competition for the senior football clubs of Ireland and London.
