Cornald Maas
Cornald Maas is a Dutch television presenter who has been known for presenting talk shows in the Netherlands. He is the brother of Frans Maas. Early career He was an editor involved in ''The Scream of the Lion'' (VARA) with Paul de Leeuw, ''Sonja on Saturday'' (VARA) with Sonja Barend and ''Rolling Fire'' ( NOS) with Philip Freriks and Leoni Jansen. Eurovision Song Contest In 2004 and 2005 Maas provided the Dutch commentary for the Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals. He took over as regular commentator for the Dutch television in 2006 for both the semi's and the final after the regular Dutch commentator Willem van Beusekom stepped down and subsequently died the week of the contest from colon cancer. In 2006 and 2007 he co-hosted the finals with Paul de Leeuw (who was the spokesperson for the Netherlands). De Leeuw was providing the commentary from the Netherlands via satellite project Olympus. Bergen Op Zoom
Bergen op Zoom (; called ''Berrege'' in the local dialect) is a municipality and a city located in the south of the Netherlands. Etymology The city was built on a place where two types of soil meet: sandy soil and marine clay. The sandy soil pushed against the marine clay, accumulating and forming hills over several centuries. People called those hills the ''Brabantse Wal'', literally meaning "ramparts of Brabant". ''Zoom'' refers to the border of these ramparts and ''bergen'' in Dutch means mountains or hills. The name has nothing to do with the little channel, the ‘Zoom’, which was later built through Bergen op Zoom. History Bergen op Zoom was granted city status probably in 1212. Oerol Festival
Oerol () is a cultural festival on the island of Terschelling in the Netherlands that is held annually in June. The ten-day festival is focused on live, public theatre as well as music and visual arts. This festival was founded in 1981 by Joop Mulder, then owner of café De Stoep in Midsland. The first edition took place on June 18, 1982. Festival Oerol has grown into one of the largest location theater festivals in Europe, Oerol is programmed at the beginning of the summer, when the island is full of greenery. All of Terschelling forms the location for the Festival, working intensively with one of the partners: Staatsbosbeheer. At Oerol there is room for the experimental and young makers, but there is also room for established groups that premiere at Oerol. Tien (meaning '' Ten'' in Dutch), previously known as Talpa, was the name of a commercial television channel in the Netherlands. Tien opened on August 13, 2005 as Talpa, following a name dispute with SBS Broadcasting. SBS owned the trademark " TV10" and objected to the use of the word Tien. The owner of Tien, Dutch media mogul John de Mol, decided to rebrand the channel as ''Talpa'', the Latin word for "mole", which is ''mol'' in Dutch. Subsequently Talpa became the name of De Mol's holding company. In the first months Talpa shared its channel space with Nickelodeon. ''Just the Two of Us'' is a British television reality singing contest hosted by Vernon Kay and Tess Daly, to date the only show that the couple have worked together on. The first series of the BBC show saw eight celebrities team up with professional singers and sing each night in duets, with one pair being eliminated every night. AVROTROS
AVROTROS () is a Dutch radio and television broadcaster that is part of the Dutch public broadcasting system. It was founded in 2014 as the result of a merger between the Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep (AVRO) and the Televisie Radio Omroep Stichting (TROS). The name AVROTROS has been used for jointly produced programmes since 1 January 2014. Since 7 September 2014, all existing AVRO and TROS programmes have also been broadcast under the name AVROTROS.
