Coral Coast, Australia
Coral Coast is a tourism promotion name for the coastal region along Western Australia's mid western coastline between Cervantes and Exmouth. It is named because of its unusual coral formations so far south, however the specific coastal area has been given other names as well over time. At earlier stages, sections of the coastal region have had separate "brands", the coast near Geraldton being known as the Batavia Coast, and south of Geraldton known as the Turquoise Coast, however these brands are not part of current tourism promotion schemes. The Sunset Coast brand of the northern beach areas of metropolitan Perth is still current. Cervantes, Western Australia
Cervantes is a town in Western Australia located off of Indian Ocean Drive about north-north-west of the state capital, Perth in the Shire of Dandaragan local government area. At the 2016 census, Cervantes had a population of 527. The town was named after a ship that was wrecked nearby. The ship, in turn, was named after Miguel de Cervantes, author of '' Don Quixote''. The principal industry in the town is fishing. The Pinnacles are nearby in Nambung National Park which makes for a small industry from tourism. Exmouth, Western Australia
Exmouth is a town on the tip of the North West Cape and on Exmouth Gulf in Western Australia, north of the state capital Perth and southwest of Darwin. The town was established in 1967 to support the nearby United States Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt. It is named after Exmouth Gulf. Beginning in the late 1970s, the town began hosting United States Air Force personnel assigned to Learmonth Solar Observatory, a defence science facility jointly operated with Australia's Ionospheric Prediction Service. The town is served by Learmonth Airport. Coral
Corals are marine invertebrates within the class Anthozoa of the phylum Cnidaria. They typically form compact colonies of many identical individual polyps. Coral species include the important reef builders that inhabit tropical oceans and secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton. A coral "group" is a colony of very many genetically identical polyps. Each polyp is a sac-like animal typically only a few millimeters in diameter and a few centimeters in height. A set of tentacles surround a central mouth opening. Each polyp excretes an exoskeleton near the base. Batavia Coast
Batavia Coast is a name attributed to a section of the coastline of Western Australia, in the region close to the vicinity of the site of the wreck of the '' Batavia'' in the Abrolhos Islands. It lies north of the Sunset Coast and Turquoise Coast. In the early 1990s maps of the coast included the main place on the coast as Geraldton, with Kalbarri as the northernmost location, and Jurien and Cervantes at the southern end. Sunset Coast
Sunset Coast is the name given by Tourism Western Australia to the coastal section of the northern metropolitan area of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, and is one of the six component tourism precincts of the Perth region. While not in extensive use locally, since the 1990s it has been a centrepiece of Western Australian tourism planning and is used in interstate and overseas marketing of the region. The region contains many white sand beaches.
